Mia Cappadocia Cave Hotel

The noise from the bar carried on late into the night, and after closing someone was still talking loudly on the balcony. My one night here was truly disappointing, especially as this stay was a gift for my mom. I’ve visited several hotels in Cappadocia, and this was by far the worst. I can recommend many other good hotels in Göreme, Çavuşin, and the surrounding area, but not this one. If this review saves someone else from a similar fiasco, it was worth writing. I’d paid extra for a room with a balcony, only to discover on arrival that the balcony was part of the hotel bar. That wasn’t mentioned in the description. The bar was right beside our room, and guests at the tables could look straight in through the window. With the door open, you could see the bed and bathroom. The terrace included in the price was packed with tourists, so there was nowhere to sit. When we sat in an empty spot with typical Turkish cushions, staff told us the area was only for photos, and that we couldn’t sit there even if we ordered food or drinks. A few minutes later, other guests sat there and staff brought them a menu, drinks, and food. That double standard was completely inappropriate. After I raised the issue, a staff member said they would “resolve” it and offered a small compensation. We accepted two drinks, but waited more than half an hour. Then, when we were leaving, they said we had an unpaid bar bill, even though the drinks had been offered as compensation.

The terrace had a beautiful view, and breakfast offered plenty of choices. The staff were great, helpful, and very welcoming. The downside was the noise at night. There was constant music and other sounds that made it hard to sleep.

We came in winter and were pleasantly surprised by how warm our room was, especially compared with other hotels where we stayed. It was quiet, and the room was in excellent condition. The hotel felt cozy, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and varied, and the terrace had a magnificent view over the city. Even little things showed care for guests, like the good quality of the disposable slippers.

Breakfast was the only saving grace. The upstairs area advertised so beautifully for balloon photos looked in reality as if a pack of cats had spent the last year there destroying the decor. If you like cigarette smells, no soundproofing, a door that pulses with the music, and no customer service, this is the place for you. I couldn’t sleep on 2 of the 3 nights, and the music right above our room kept disturbing my 1 year old. One staff member tried to sort it out, but others were extremely rude and deceitful. My mother and I each paid for a room for the end of our 3 week holiday, and it was such a waste. I had to spend most of the time in her room while she slept on the bench bed. I want a refund. Save your money!
