Green Garden Otel

The pool was lovely, and the neighborhood was quiet. Our modern room had pleasant decor, sturdy beds, and hot water all day and night. Breakfast was great, and the Ukrainian-Turkish couple who welcomed us were warm and very helpful.

I had planned to stay just one night in Goynük before heading to Hisarçandir for the last part of the Lycian way. Instead, I spent five nights at Green Garden Hotel. Goynük is a quiet, pleasant place where you can choose the sea or hikes in the mountains, but what kept me there was how cared for and respected I felt at the hotel. The room and amenities were comfortable and clean, too. I spent much of my time reading, swimming, and doing Yoga. Ludmilla, the manager, was there when I needed her, always friendly and thoughtful without intruding. She’d bring me little oranges and grapefruits from the garden, or leave turkish delights beside my coffee when I came back from my room. Each morning she varied the breakfast and made sure I ate well and got important nutrients. It’s touching to be around such charming people. That kind of personal, genuine care doesn’t often happen in big hotels. Ludmilla and her husband run a large place with many gardens, two swimming pools, and two independent facilities, yet it felt like a small pension. Guests get attentive care and plenty of privacy. I’m still impressed by that, and by how much it matters to be treated as an individual rather than as a standard customer.

A lovely little hostel with new rooms. It’s worth what you pay.
