Terzioglu Hotel

The location was handy for my one night before crossing into Georgia: it’s right by a very good dinner restaurant and the coach station for Georgia or other parts of Turkey. The room was very clean, with comfortable beds, a great shower, a lovely Black Sea view, and good WiFi. Breakfast had lots of options and was very good.

For a couple of days, I think this is about as good as it gets. The hotel is right beside the bus terminal, and the staff were kind and attentive. My room was clean and adequate, with a good view, and breakfast was good too. The only downside was some noise from the main road, though I’m not sure you can find a quiet place in Hopa.

The staff were accommodating and friendly. One spoke some English, another Russian and some Georgian, and the ustabas, Hussein, spoke German and was as kind and friendly as people say. Turan the porter was great too. We booked two rooms, and both were clean, modern, and very quiet, aside from road noise, which I like. The air conditioners worked almost too well, since I got cold within minutes. The TVs had around 600 channels, mostly Turkish. The shower was incredible: powerful, properly hot, and with some of the best sensitivity control I’ve come across. I judge hotels by the shower, and this was one of my three most memorable. Breakfast was lovely, with several cheeses, olives, eggs, salad, halva, and more. Anyone who turns their nose up at that just doesn’t like a Turkish or Mediterranean style breakfast. The hotel is next to the otogar, and central Hopa is a short walk for food. There’s also a big, relaxing lobby and pleasant outdoor gazebos. I didn’t use the sauna or massage parlor, but the masseuse speaks Russian and possibly Georgian. During my stay, the WiFi was excellent, much better than in Georgia. I can’t think of a real negative by my standards. They probably have off days when a bathroom isn’t perfectly clean or something is missing from breakfast, but that’s life. The value for the price is incredible, and I feel lucky to have stayed here. I’ll definitely be back.

The staff were pretty kind and helpful, but our bathroom floor was a little dirty. Breakfast was very limited, so we didn’t like it much either. Still, it’s good for the price.
