Kerme Ottoman Palace - Boutique Class

The pool, with its mountain view, was a highlight, and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is quiet enough for a good night’s sleep, with a great spot by the river and beach, friendly people, and a very good breakfast. The Ottoman-style decoration has plenty of detail, and I kept noticing lovely touches from the ceilings to the lobby chairs. The bathrooms and restrooms need attention. They felt disgusting and didn’t suit such a nice hotel. It needs general upkeep too. Ottoman style can look historic without feeling old and worn. I’d also like to see dinner served. Even with those drawbacks, I’d love to return.

The restaurant by the Azmak river saved us time in Akkaya, despite the prices. The hotel itself feels past its best. It has aged without the maintenance needed to keep it in good shape. The staff felt robotic, with no smile, eye contact, or even a hello or good morning. Cleaning was poor too, I found a cigarette butt in the flower basket on the balcony. We paid a deposit for three rooms, then cancelled because of the forest fires and asked for it back. The hotel staff said we had no reservation, and then said we hadn’t made the payment. We’re still trying to get our money back. Please stay somewhere else and save yourself the trouble. We paid a deposit and are still trying to get it returned. Please, please don’t put yourself through this. Go camping and you’ll have peace of mind.

This boutique hotel feels like stepping into another time, with attention to detail everywhere. It sits beside a crystal clear river that runs a couple of miles to the sea. There’s a small beach walk and craft shops, and restaurants along the river serve a good variety of food. Definitely check out Orfoz restaurant, the seafood and mezes are easily the best in the whole region.
