Izmit Butik Otel

The decor was pleasant, and there’s a small garden downstairs. Set on a pedestrian road, the hotel was fairly quiet. I paid 100 lira per night. It's not easy to access with a wheelchair. The owner let guests use the kitchen freely while the restaurant and breakfast options were closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, and there’s a supermarket nearby. My shower handle was broken, but I still got a strong, hot shower. The first room I was offered smelled terribly of smoke, and I’m a non-smoker. I spoke at length with the owner, and I believe more attention and options for non-smokers will follow. This is an historical building, and allowing smoking in rooms carries enormous risks. I’m giving four stars because the staff were helpful and well mannered. Price-wise, it may be one of the most reasonably priced hotels in Izmit.

It’s a beautiful old traditional wooden Turkish house, and the view is great. The standard room has an ottoman style. But the soundproofing is terrible. We heard the receptionist playing video games all night 😔. Breakfast doesn’t start until 9:30.

The owner, a woman, was so friendly, helpful, and lovely. I really liked her a lot. The hotel has a nice view, and everything else was okay, though it was a little dirty and they should pay more attention to that.

I felt at home here and had a really good experience. It’s an old traditional wooden Turkish house, one of the best places to stay at a good price. The staff were friendly and cooperative. Thank you 🌹
