Akka Hotels Lush Taksim

We were there for a week, and the reception team made us feel so welcome. Everyone was kind, helpful, and hospitable, which really added to our stay. The rooms were very clean, and ours had everything we needed to be comfortable. Breakfast had a great mix of hot and cold options, with welcoming, helpful staff. The location is convenient for Taksim and close to the cool coffee shops in cihangar. I’d recommend staying here in Istanbul. Nobody at the hotel asked or pressured me to write this, this is just my opinion.

The room was tiny and nothing like the description online. There was a loud buzzing through the night, so after a long flight we couldn’t rest. We changed rooms the next day, but that one wasn’t any better. The bathroom also smelled foul from our first night. When we reported it, staff blamed “weather issues” and sprayed air freshener instead of sorting it out. We’ve stayed at other places around Taksim without this problem, and I personally stayed at this hotel in February 2023 without any issues. This trip was for wedding shopping, and the stay ended up ruining it. On another day we came back to a poorly cleaned room. The bed had been made and the towels changed, but the bathroom floor was still dirty and covered in hair. The next morning, the man at reception was rude and unprofessional when we complained. He first blamed us, saying we’d put a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door, then changed his story when we pointed out housekeeping had clearly been inside. He shouted aggressively over my wife while she was speaking, in a disrespectful and intimidating way. We asked for a manager and were sent to Ms Pearla. She dismissed us and wouldn’t accept that her staff had done anything wrong. Instead, she told my wife to “speak nicely” and brushed the whole matter aside. Nobody apologized. The stay was stressful and upsetting, with poor cleanliness, misleading room descriptions, noise, and staff who treated us disrespectfully. I’d strongly advise others to avoid this hotel.

The reception lady was lovely while we waited to check out. She asked about our stay, listened carefully, and even apologized in case anything had gone wrong. Her warm, professional manner made a good impression. Our room was clean, but the bathroom supplies hadn’t been properly replenished. One shampoo and the body cream were nearly empty. The adjoining door was locked, but light showed through from the other side, and we could hear the neighboring guests so clearly it felt like they were in our room. That really affected our comfort and privacy. The bellman kindly offered to carry our luggage, then joked that he’d hand it over after we tipped him. His condescending manner didn’t feel appropriate for a four-star hotel, where guests should be treated professionally and equally. With better staff training, soundproofing, and care in restocking the room, the hotel could deliver the kind of experience expected at that level. It was a good stay in some ways, but these things need attention.
