Chez Bore

The reception guys were really nice, even though they spoke very little English, and the location could work if you get a quiet room or visit in low season. But that didn't make up for the stay. Staff and guests were allowed to smoke inside, and the rooms smelled of cigarettes. The owner had reception staff clean instead of hiring a professional, and we found bathroom leaks and a cigarette in the dirty toilet when we arrived. The place was rundown, and the stove was covered up so we couldn't cook. We weren't expecting a high-class hotel, but this was not okay. Our lungs needed time to recover afterward.

A technical problem with my booking put me in a women's dorm instead of a private room. The owner wouldn't move me unless I paid extra, so I spent two hours in the lobby calling Agoda to get the issue fixed myself. He did give me a glass of tea, which is why I'm leaving two stars.

We couldn't sleep because the noise was high at night, and the air-conditioning didn't work. We also woke up itching badly, as if there were bed mites or something. We had booked and paid for B&B, but the next morning they said we'd booked without breakfast, so we felt scammed. The staff and manager were aggressive, spoke no English, and seemed to care only about money. Warning.

The workers are really kind, and the location is good, about five minutes from istiklal. Thanks, guys. I'd stay here again next time.
