GALATA M84 Hotel

We spent our days exploring and came back to a comfortable haven. The apartments are spacious, stylish, and beautifully decorated in a gorgeous building, with great amenities and a well-equipped kitchen. The area is lively and fun, with the metro, the funicular tram, Istiklal Street, and Galata Tower close by. The funicular is handy for avoiding the hill. The 24 hr front desk staff were outstanding. Murad and Hasan were especially helpful, with advice on restaurants and public transport. Thank you for making the stay special.

The location was amazing, and the hotel management were professional, attentive, and genuinely kind. Mr. Ozan, Mr. Murad, and Mr. Hasan deserve a special thank you for their hospitality. I hope to stay here again on my next vacation, Insha’Allah.

The noise made it impossible for us to rest. The building is on a major street, with honking, shouting, and metro noise starting at 2 a.m. The windows might as well have been paper. I also felt misled about the room. I booked a specific one through Hotels.com after carefully comparing the photos and paying thousands, but was given a different, inferior room, with no apology or explanation. The staff behavior was the worst I've encountered. The bearded man at the front desk was rude and dismissive, ignored questions until we asked repeatedly, and acted as if helping guests was beneath him. On our last day he wouldn't give us a bottle of water because it was “checkout time,” and refused even when I offered to pay. I asked him for two days to let us use a luggage scale. He said it was with another customer, and when I asked him to get it back, he refused. He said it was supposed to be returned in 15mins, but apparently it had been kept for 2 days. Why should I, a guest who paid thousands, have to worry about a scale? His contempt was blatant. The safe also seemed clearly tampered with. I set a code and tested it several times, and everything worked. When we returned, it was locked with an error code, which only happens after multiple failed attempts to open it. Someone had obviously tried. No one told us about the amenities, so I wasted money buying basic items the hotel already had. And after I called three days ahead to confirm early check-in for myself and my elderly mother, made clear we'd be tired after a long journey, and even offered to pay extra, staff firmly assured me there would definitely be space. But when we arrived exhausted and wanted to rest, they said early check-in wasn't possible unless we paid another $200 for four hours in a different room. We paid, then still waited another two hours for our actual room. It was humiliating to be left in the lobby with my elderly mother after calling, confirming, and offering to pay, only to be treated as an inconvenience. This place ruined what should have been a special trip with my mother. It felt like a bait-and-switch scam run by people who don't care about hospitality, ethics, or basic decency. If you value honesty, rest, or respect, stay far away from Galata M84.

The hotel has a lovely old architectural charm, and staying there was one of the reasons I enjoyed Istanbul so much. I was traveling along the Mediterranean coast, then to Cappadocia, and finally to Istanbul. From IST airport I took the metro, changing at Taksim. Seeing the crowds, chaos, and constant traffic there, I wondered if Istanbul was overrated. Then I reached the hotel and was speechless. Waking up in the beautiful Galata area, with its cafés and local vibe, made the stay even better. The location is terrific, and honestly the rooms are better than those at any luxurious hotels they pin on Google. I loved every bit of it.
