Grand Laleli Hotel

The room wasn’t very clean, though we hadn’t expected much. What really bothered us was the man at reception. He wouldn’t speak to us when we arrived and just tossed our passports aside. On our last day, he tried to steal from us. We definitely won’t stay here again.

The rooms are roomy, comfortable, and fitted with good amenities, and the beds were especially comfortable. The hotel has a fresh, modern look and a pleasant feel. It’s in a convenient spot, and the housekeeping team were friendly and clearly trying hard. There was still some dust and the odd detail that could have been tidier. It feels deserving of four stars, though a little more attention to maintenance would help.

Just an ordinary two-star place. The furniture is old, the room wasn’t very clean, and it smelled of cigarettes. There was only a man working at reception, and there wasn’t much hospitality.

We travelled around Turkiye with my wife, from Istanbul to Ankara, Bursa, Konya, Alanya, Antalya and Çanakkale, and nowhere else did we get treatment this rude and unprofessional. The man in the lobby was extremely racist. He questioned me about my Schengen visas as if he were a border guard, even though I was legally in Turkiye and standing in a hotel lobby. I tried to cooperate and show proof to avoid a scene, but he wouldn’t accept anything I showed him. He seemed unable to accept that my wife and I have different nationalities. I hope the hotel fires him. This experience could leave visitors with a terrible impression of a beautiful country, so don’t come here.
