The room we were shown at check-in looked nothing like the photos on Booking. The toilet didn't work, the hygiene in the room and bathroom was very poor, and there was a large hole in the ceiling with leaking sewage pipes above the shower. The toilet seat was broken, and other guests' belongings were still on and around the bed. We couldn't tell whether the sheets had been changed. With the leaking pipes, electrical cables, and poor cleanliness, we didn't feel safe staying there. We asked to speak to the manager or owner. On the phone, he was extremely rude. He said the Booking photos were just general pictures and asked what we expected at that room price. We only expected a clean, safe room like the one advertised. He offered to move us only if we paid extra. When we refused, he said he'd refund us through Booking, but he never did. We were there on 12th of November, and he reported to Booking that we hadn't shown up for check-in. The woman who showed us the room seemed embarrassed by its condition. Her English was limited, but she apologized and tried to talk to the owner. He yelled at her and hung up. I had read previous comments saying the owner had slapped her, and now I'm sure that's true. I regret trusting the Booking reviews without reading Google reviews first. Don't make the same mistake. We refused to stay, but they didn't refund us. We were scammed, and the place wasn't as shown in the photos. They even admitted openly that they scam guests. There are still good reviews on Booking, so don't be fooled like we were. Check the attached photos. We had to find somewhere else at 10pm, two women with suitcases, in that dirty, unsafe neighborhood. It ruined our whole vacation and experience of Istanbul. Avoid this place.

The toilet was dirty, with an old soap bar on the floor, and the sheets and towels were dirty too. I couldn't stay even one night. I spent an hour there while searching for somewhere else, but had paid for 4 nights.

We'd originally booked another hotel, but after they double-sold our booking, they sent us here. We had no other choice and paid cash at check-in. The rooms were very dirty and nothing like the pictures. The owner runs the hostel with his wife, who cleans the rooms. After paying, we still waited 20 minutes for our keys. Then the owner came, knocked on our door, and yelled at his wife in the hall. I was there with my baby and three other adults. Since I speak Turkish, I opened the door and shouted back at him. He was kinder once he saw my baby, but I told him to refund us right away because we weren't staying. He gave us the key and begged us to stay. I took my child and our bag to leave. The owner turned around and beat his wife in the face with full force in front of all of us. She came to us asking us to stay, but we left as quickly as we could. Once the doors closed, we heard him beating her repeatedly while she screamed. I felt awful for her, but I had to protect my child. The owner was extremely aggressive. Do not go here.

We booked through Booking.com and were given a terrible room with sewage and electrical problems. The owner said he'd refund us so we could find another place, but he lied. They charged us for the room and never returned the money. A very bad experience.

The apartment was super clean, with two bedrooms and new furniture, and the photos on Booking showed exactly what we got. The name has now changed to my sweet home istandbul, and it's been newly renovated. The location was superb, and the host, umut, was kind and considerate. We're a big family from Malaysia with small kids, and both the apartment and the host's hospitality worked really well for us during our three-night stay. Thanks umut.
