Mahall Hotel

The bathroom had a bad drain smell throughout our stay, and by the end water had spread across the floor from the drain. Opening the window brought smoke from people in nearby buildings into the room, while street-side rooms were too noisy for that to be a good option. The AC didn't work in either of the two rooms we tried. Since it was March and cooler at night, we were prepared to manage, but the hotel offered to have us leave even though we wanted to stay and avoid moving again during our four nights there. We knew Mahall Hotel was brand new and were willing to give it a chance, but renovation work went on every day and was extremely loud. The last night, noise carried on through the night, with people moving in and out of nearby rooms and around the corridors and stairways. We couldn't tell whether they were guests or staff. It felt very strange. The hotel should be ready for guests before opening.

The check-in was awful, and the receptionist didn't speak English. We had to haul our luggage up three floors because there was no elevator. The hotel was on a loud, busy street, and closing the windows didn't block the noise. The AC didn't work, while the heating couldn't be turned off. Everything seemed broken or poor quality, from the lamps and door handle to the windows. The mattresses were old, used, and dirty, despite the claim that this was a new hotel. The room photos show old materials and broken pieces too. There was nothing to like about the place. This was the worst hotel experience I've had, and it shouldn't be listed on booking.com.

That strawberry tea was delicious, and the staff were so kind. After a rough morning, they even brought me a cookie to cheer me up. Highly recommend.

The coffee shop downstairs keeps the place lively all day. The hotel is right in the middle of the area, and the rooms are very clean.
