Rota Star Hotel Beyoğlu

Moeen deserves a big thank you. He's wonderful with guests and treats people with real kindness. They listen when customers raise concerns and sort out problems quickly and efficiently.

I booked this hotel at the last minute. It's decent for a short stop of a few hours during a transit flight, even though the room is small. The location is convenient too, with food and an affordable hammam easy to get to.

I booked through expedia.com for 12 days, expecting a double-sized bed and breakfast. On check-in, I found there was no reception; they were using a restaurant as the front desk. It was full of flies, the receptionist was eating very smelly food, and the floor was dirty. The room they gave me was on the second floor, up very narrow stairs. It felt like a prison cell, with two beds, a small window overlooking a little hill of trash, very old parquet flooring, and no WiFi. I tried to cancel and get my money back, but they refused either a refund or to charge just for that night and return the rest. Expedia did absolutely nothing. It's a shame booking sites call this dirty motel a hotel and let them deceive customers without legal protection.

Everything I needed was there, and the place was clean. The staff were kind and available, and they speak English. The room had air conditioning, and the price was very good. Breakfast felt like a meal in a Turkish home.
