Sign of istanbul Hotel Taksim

The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable, the air conditioning is super quiet, and the staff are nice and polite. The location is very quiet too, just what you want after a long day of exploring. For the price, it’s a really good, clean hotel. Some reviews mention the steep hills, but obviously you need comfortable shoes in Istanbul. I don’t think that’s the hotel’s fault.

The room was fine, but its electricity shut off whenever we went out. It got extremely hot while we were away, and the fridge lost power too, so there was no cold water when we came back. We stayed September 10 to September 16, and the payment and receipt situation was frustrating. At check-in, they said neither of our two Canadian credit cards would go through and that they would cancel our Booking.com reservation. They did let us stay after we agreed to pay cash. We asked for a receipt and were told we’d get it on our last day, Sunday, September 16. Then they said they couldn’t make an invoice on Sunday and would send it by WhatsApp the next day. We’ve contacted them several times since and still haven’t received a reply or the receipt. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, and I’d be cautious about booking it.

The room was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location, though, was rough: you have to walk uphill, including stairs, to get to shops and restaurants. I managed it on the first day, then started taking taxis. It would’ve helped if the listing showed what the street is like, since location matters a lot. The view from the room was horrible and creepy.

The staff were the warmest part of our stay, always friendly and ready to help. We were just a few blocks from Taksim Square, with its crowds and energy day and night, and there were plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The restaurant on the fifth floor had breathtaking ocean views. There were four of us sharing a room with two bedrooms and one bathroom. It was fairly spacious except for the tiny shower, where there was hardly room to move. The room looked lovely, though it was a bit dusty under the beds. Breakfast was good but very basic, and the same choices got monotonous after day two. I understand it’s a smaller hotel, but a hot breakfast would’ve been nice. We had a very good stay at Soi Hotels and Suites and would recommend it.
