Discovery Hotel

I’ve never encountered a ruder receptionist. He openly said he couldn’t speak English or French, then mocked me and hung up the phone. That behavior was completely unacceptable. Avoid this hotel at all costs. If I could give zero stars, I would, and management should seriously reconsider keeping someone like that on staff. I’d accidentally booked an extra night and tried to explain the mistake, but the hotel wouldn’t make an adjustment. Other places have kindly modified bookings when the same thing happened to me. The customer service here was poor.

The staff made me feel welcome and valued throughout my stay. Everyone I dealt with was polite and helpful, and the owner’s genuine interest in guest satisfaction really stood out. They seem to make an effort to understand guests personally, which gives the hotel a good atmosphere. I had a wonderful stay and was pleased with the price for what I received in service and accommodations. I’d highly recommend this hotel.

The staff ruined my experience in Istanbul. It’s disgraceful that tourists might come away with this image of Turkish people. I really hope they’re not all like this, but honestly, these people don’t make me want to find out.

The receptionist comes across as noticeably passive-aggressive and racist toward people who aren’t white. They seem to assume you’re in the country illegally based on your skin color, then closely inspect your ID and question you as though they were immigration officers.
