It was a mixed stay for me, about 50/50. The price was very reasonable, around €50 for four nights, and the location was convenient. They gave us free towels, slippers, and locker padlocks. The bed in the female dorm was pretty comfortable, and the third-floor shower room was clean and in good shape. There were no locks on the dorm rooms, which made me feel unsafe. The first-floor shower was in poor condition, so I’d use the one on the third floor. The woman owner came into the female dorm twice without knocking, once around 9:00-10:00 PM without checking whether we were dressed, and again at 8:20 AM. In the morning she made a scene and kicked out another China girl who had ten more nights there, accusing her of flirting with her husband after watching her on the hostel security cameras. 🤷🏻♀️ The owner apologized to me about ten times for waking me, but the whole thing felt bizarre and unprofessional. I can’t judge what happened because I don’t know the details, but I was disappointed and a little scared about what was going on and why. Be careful and stay safe, girls!

The hostel was clean and well looked after, with neat washrooms and a clean kitchen, though both were compact. The atmosphere was very quiet and peaceful, which I liked most. I stayed a few nights at Taksim History Wooden Hostel, and it was a pleasant budget stay. The location is quite a way downhill, so you need good energy and strong legs to climb back up whenever you return. If that’s okay with you, it’s hard to find a better option at this price. Recommended for budget travelers who value calm and cleanliness over luxury.

I made friends with guests from different countries while I was there. I’m Moroccan, and everyone I met was respectful and polite. The hostel is close to Taksim Square and Istiklal Street. The owner was friendly and welcoming, the rooms were clean and warm, and the beds were comfortable. Each guest had a locker for their belongings, and there were cameras throughout the hostel. We also had to show our passports at reception so they knew who was staying and everyone could be safe. There’s a kitchen where you can cook your own meals. For the price, it’s a perfect hostel. I definitely recommend it and can’t wait to come back.

Everything was spotless, and the bed was really comfortable. Awesome hotel, I’d definitely come back.

The location is handy, near the metro, though you have to walk uphill to get there. The owner was helpful and kind. But at 15 euros a night, I got a tiny room with eight people. It smelled awful, and I can’t imagine how it would be in summer with eight people and temperatures above 35 degrees outside. The sheets were very old and looked awful, and I was surprised there were no privacy curtains. The shared kitchen is tiny and also used as reception. It was really dirty, and when I saw a cockroach on the wall, I couldn’t even boil water or make noodles. The terrace was filthy, with cigarette butts all over the floor and table. The shower smelled bad, had lots of mold, and was so tiny it looked more like a bunker than a shower room. I don’t understand the good ratings, and even the price doesn’t feel reasonable. I don’t recommend it.
