The door wouldn’t lock from inside, so I ended up wedging a chair and my luggage against it for safety. I’d already had to go downstairs twice, first to ask for slippers because none were in the room, then to report that the WiFi wouldn’t connect. The owner insisted it worked but refused to come up and check. He moved me to a room on the third floor across the building, where the WiFi worked, but cold air leaked in and the room was freezing. When I went down again to explain, he told me, “You can check out now.” It was late at night, and being told to leave instead of having the problem fixed felt irresponsible and unprofessional. I had to make clear that forcing a guest out in that situation wasn’t acceptable. With no real solution, I went back upstairs and wore layers to keep warm. The whole stay was uncomfortable and felt unsafe. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The toilets and bathrooms were dirty, the bed was very itchy, and the air conditioner was weak with a filter that wasn’t clean. The owner, Muhammed, claimed the room would cost an extra 500 per night, then charged 1000. He also seemed greedy and liked to lie. Don’t pay for all your days upfront, or you may be mistreated. If you do have to stay, pay one day at a time. There are better hotels for less, and this was the worst hotel I’ve found. Never trust the air conditioner.

The location is handy for shops and restaurants, but the service seemed to depend on who was working. One man was consistently kind and gave great service. I didn’t care much for the other staff. My standard room was in the basement, and outside noise made it hard to sleep. I wouldn’t recommend that room to anyone who wants a good night’s rest.

My wife, child and I booked this hotel while visiting Istanbul. At night, my child saw the administrator looking through the window, which was really frightening. Our vacation was nearly over, so we left without going to the police. I don’t recommend this hotel. It didn’t feel safe.
