Vakko Hotel and Residence

This was my second stay at Vakko, and it has been a while since a hotel impressed me this much. The Nişantaşı location is convenient for walking everywhere, while still being quiet at night. The room was thoughtfully equipped, from the hotel's own chocolates and macarons to glass water bottles, Proraso shaving cream, and Marvis toothpaste. There was even Technogym equipment tucked in the closet, though I didn't use it. The people really made the stay. Everyone from the doorman to housekeeping seemed happy to be there. Şahabettin at breakfast remembered how I take my coffee from my last visit and was cheerful even in the morning rush. Breakfast was terrific. The eggs benedict with salmon may be the best I've had, and the croissants come fresh from the oven, baked to order. The quality makes it clear they have their own patisserie. If you know Vakko, you'll recognize the care they put into getting things right here, too. If you don't, it's a treat. It's pricey, but I felt I got what I paid for. A refreshing change from luxury hotels that feel cookie-cutter and corporate.

Service is what put Vakko Hotel and Residence among our top three hotel experiences anywhere in the world. Ibrahim, Uğur, and Deniz were exceptionally caring and kind. My husband and I had both caught colds on the way to Turkey, and the hotel made it easier to rest while still enjoying Istanbul. They seemed to anticipate every need and take care of it elegantly. Breakfast arrived in our room each day, and there were turn-downs and thoughtful touches like an eyeglass cloth by the bed. They even tidied my husband's luggage mess, among many other small details.

The breakfast was outstanding, and the whole stay at Vakko had an impressive, luxurious feel. We had a great time. Special thanks to Umit for the warm, attentive service that made our stay memorable.

The staff are the hotel's greatest asset. Every person I met was extremely nice, especially Ibrahim, who was genuinely kind. Everything else was perfect too. I hope they keep up this level of professionalism, because it's what brings me back.
