Alves Hotel

Alvés Hotel in İzmir turned out much better than I expected for such a reasonable price, especially since it was new. The lobby has lovely modern decor, comfortable chairs, books, and a cozy coffee and drinks bar near reception. Sometimes coffee is free there too. The room had a great rain shower, a really comfortable bed, a fridge, and coffee. You can also scan a QR code to request extras like chargers, headphones, or umbrellas. Breakfast was fantastic, with Mediterranean vegetables, cheeses, cereals, and plenty more. There’s no pork, as expected in a Muslim country. The location is excellent, a block from the main train station, with plenty of shops and restaurants around. Kemeraltı Bazaar is a pleasant 15-minute walk straight down the same road. Hatiçe, Sibel, and İlkay were warm, professional, and went out of their way to help. I’d happily come back.

The hotel is very close to the bus station and Konak attractions, in an area that felt safe and walkable even late at night. We enjoyed staying here, and it’s worth booking. Alves Hotel Izmir is new, clean, and looked just like its photos. We arrived late, so things were quiet. At check-in, most of the staff weren’t very welcoming or easy to approach. One person did show us to the room, but seemed rushed while explaining things. We were on the fifth floor facing the main street. We heard some noise from other rooms and people by the lift, though it didn’t bother us too much. The lift is very fast. Wi-Fi was weak, making streaming or video calls a bit slow. The only amenity available during our visit was the sauna. Free tea and coffee were available in the lobby and restaurant, with bottled water in the room. We followed the instructions about opening windows and switching off the AC when we left, but dust still came in through the open window. Later, Serkan at reception was very kind and gave us a late checkout until 3 PM instead of noon at no extra cost, which we appreciated. One thing to know: the pillows are quite uncomfortable.

For the price, this hotel did far better than I expected. The rooms were modern, comfortable, and had everything I needed. Staff were the best I’ve dealt with in Türkye: professional, polite, and helpful from check-in through checkout and even afterward. They answered all my questions and kept offering complimentary tea and coffee. There’s a Şok and a carrefour right next door, plus a very good Syrian restaurant nearby called Sindbat. 10/10, book it if you’re seeing this.

The staff went out of their way to help, and the spotless room was comfortable. Valet parking made things easy, and the location puts everything close by. I had a wonderful eight-night stay and will definitely come back in May. Highly recommend!
