Balturk House Hotel

Easy to find, with free parking, and the location isn’t bad. I was surprised by how huge the suite was, almost like an apartment. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. We had to choose between two suites and took the larger one, but it smelled of smoke the whole time. Mr. Ahmet, if I remember the name right, was very kind and helped with everything we needed. Thanks, ahmet. A good option for a short stay in izmit.

The hotel is on the outskirts of izmit, easy to find, with free parking behind it. Our room was laid out like an apartment, with an ensuite bedroom and queen bed, plus a huge separate living room and kitchen where the single beds and sofa bed were. The air conditioning cooled the whole place well. It was clean, the beds were comfortable enough, and the shower had good pressure. Breakfast in the morning was decent. A good choice for a short stay in izmit.

The staff were the one bright spot, trying to help with a smile. But all the rooms allow smoking, and the smell was disgusting. I had to keep the window open even at night, which meant mosquitoes and humid 30 C air in the room. Breakfast was acceptable for the price, so I’d lowered my expectations. This definitely isn’t my preferred hotel in Izmit.

The rooms are large and recently renovated, with kitchens, and they serve breakfast. It’s close to the main bus station, in an industrial district. They call it a four star hotel, but I think that’s overrated and it should be two stars.
