Wes Hotel Izmit

Be very careful about choosing this terrible hotel. The air conditioner didn't work that first night, and when we asked to move rooms, they said there were no vacancies. The next morning we asked them to fix it, but they offered a room change instead. We were in a rush, so said we'd do it when we got back, and they agreed. When we returned, Bulent, the same receptionist from the night before, immediately said there were no vacancies without even checking. We would have extended our booking by two more nights if he'd moved us. He was rude and disrespectful, and treated us with racism. We'll never come back.

The photos showing a sea view are of the terrace, but breakfast isn't served there. It's in a room on the first floor. During my stay, the terrace nightclub was so loud at night that neighbors complained and the police came to make them stop for that night. This isn't suitable for families. Breakfast choices were limited, though some guests seemed to get hidden, luxurious dishes. When I asked for some, staff said there weren't any left. The rooms are small, and the pool and sauna are closed.

The Spa was very nice and the hotel was clean. My room smelled of smoke, though I didn't ask to change it, so that wasn't their fault. There was no kettle in my room, unlike the others, and even after I asked twice, none arrived. Getting onto the Wifi was quite complicated, but I'm not sure whether that was down to the hotel.

The staff were always friendly, they cleaned the rooms every day, and the beds and towels always looked clean. They even let us use the gym while it was technically under maintenance. I stayed for a month, and the hotel looks nice, with smiling people, but be careful of being scammed by the front desk when ordering a taxi. They recommended a driver for a trip to the black sea who scammed us. During Ramadan, the rooftop bar and sauna/pool were closed for maintenance. Once the bar opened, music boomed down to the first floor, and I needed earplugs to sleep. I also wish the breakfast buffet had food labels, since a lot of it was unfamiliar and tasted weird.
