Iznik Otel

The lake garden along the shore is lovely, and the hotel is right by it. You can picnic there, though there are no supermarkets or locantas nearby, which makes a low-cost stay impractical. The hotel is 50 meters up a traverse from the lakeshore road, and Iznik is generally expensive, so I understand the comments about the price. What bothered me most was the lack of attention to details: dust on the jam packets at breakfast, holes in the sheets, and cold potato chips. The covered eating area has a pool right in the middle, which felt like a poor setup. I wouldn’t want to swim where people are eating, and eating beside people shouting and splashing would be uncomfortable. People smoked there because they treated it like an outdoor space, so breakfast wasn’t pleasant. Guests are also allowed to smoke in rooms, even though that’s against the law. My room’s smell was just about tolerable, but I kept the windows open and put a towel over the pillow. The staff were positive and helpful, as is usual in Turkey. They let me wash my clothes and lent me a bicycle for free so I could go into town.

Breakfast was good, and there’s a small pool. The rooms are reasonably priced, but below standard. It’s near the lake and far from the city center.

meh, expected more. Neither the AC remote nor the phone worked.

It’s an okay hotel, and the breakfast is good.
