Barbun Pansiyon

The room was fresh and very clean, and we loved looking out at the beautiful Izmir bay from the window and balcony. Breakfast was exceptionally delicious. The staff were polite, friendly, and helpful. They arranged a taxi to Mordogan center and booked a minibus for our early morning trip back to izmir metro for our flight. My parents and I also enjoyed the lovely, uncrowded beaches just two minutes from Barbun Pansiyon, with their clear water. There’s a short uphill walk from Ayi Baligi Koyu beach. At the top, you get a nice view, and there’s a shorter walking route to the center of Mordogan that doesn’t show up on Google maps. The Pansiyon is reached by two or three flights of stairs, so be aware of that. From Izmir airport, you can take bus 202 or the izban tram to Hilal, then transfer to izmir metro and go to Fahrettin Altay station. From there, take a minibus toward Mordogan/Karaburun and get off at Mordogan center. You can walk over the hill or take a taxi, which was at most 20 liras in 2019. The entrance to the walking path is a bit hidden, so ask a local. You need to go through a university campus by the seaside.

The management is friendly, and the place is kept clean.

Ms. Yelda and her husband, Mr. Işık, made us feel very welcome. They were kind, attentive, natural, and quick to find solutions. The garden and decor were lovely, and breakfast was fresh, filling, varied, and delicious. The homemade jams were wonderful. We stayed for two nights on our second visit to Ayıbalığı Bay, which we already loved. We chose this guesthouse based on the reviews. Breakfast being included was a real plus. Eating out would have cost much more, and we wouldn’t have found the same level of hygiene and taste. Everything is expensive, so I won’t go into prices. Some spots in the room could have been cleaned better, perhaps because there weren’t enough staff. Under the carpet, beneath the bathroom door, and outside the balcony doors were a little dusty and dirty. Still, the linens and the guesthouse overall were cleaner than in many other places. When we asked for a broom so we could clean with our baby, they kindly provided one, and we used it to sweep up our own dirt and dust on the second day. We’d love to return and would wholeheartedly recommend the place.

We felt right at home at this family guesthouse and left very happy. Yelda Hanım and Işık Bey were attentive, friendly, and lovely to talk with. Our room was clean and had air conditioning, a refrigerator, and mosquito screens on the windows. The breakfast was wonderful and filling, with a range of delicious homemade jams. The sea was magnificent. The guesthouse is at the head of Ayı Balıkı Bay, just a one or two minute walk away, and you can easily drive to Korsan Beach, Ardıç Bay, and Manal Bay.
