Arpia Hotel

The Arpia hotel is worth it, and I'd recommend it for a short stay. For two weeks, though, I'd look for somewhere else next time. Our room was okay and had what we needed, but it wasn't large. One small closet left us short of storage, so our things ended up scattered and one of us lived out of a suitcase for all 16 days. More storage would help. There was also a leak in the balcony roof that flooded our balcony, although you wouldn't notice it when it wasn't raining. The hotel is 10 to 15 minutes from the center of Kas, and the dolmus runs a few times an hour. The sea setting is stunning, with views all around and both sunrise and sunset to watch. The breakfast and beach bar staff were friendly and went out of their way to help, and there's a sweet three-legged hotel cat. Breakfast had plenty of options and was fine, but since we don't eat everything, the same choices for 16 days got monotonous.

The setting is beautiful and the staff are friendly, but we left with a very poor impression. Power kept cutting out, usually for one or two hours, and on our last day it was off altogether. We messaged on WhatsApp and then spoke to staff in person, who replied “OkOk,” which we took to mean they were working on it. By then it had been out for almost 24 hours, so in the middle of the night we packed in the dark and moved rooms because we needed to charge our phones. The soundproofing in the new room was very poor, making our last night awful. Breakfast was missing about half its items by 9:40 a.m. on most days. Sometimes there were no beach towels available. Water, tea, and coffee in the room were provided only once.

People complaining about this hotel probably have nothing to say in life and use Google Maps as their only place to be heard! We were a couple staying three nights, and really needed this break on our road trip. The rooms, views, service, and location were all amazing, and the staff put in outstanding effort, always friendly and ready to help. The buffet breakfast had lots of tasty options, and the walk to the private beach was short. The water felt amazing. Of course it isn't a five-star place, it's a three-star hotel, but it has so much charm and care that it feels like six stars!

The views are sensational, the Turkish breakfast is good, and the guys at breakfast and the bar are helpful. Rooms are clean, and Tripod the cat is lovely to pet. After that, though, things go downhill, starting with the manager's attitude. I think that's what he calls himself. I'm not sure how long he has the lease, but whoever takes it next could make this hotel much better. It wouldn't take much for the place to be fantastic. The rooms have no glasses, cups, or fresh water, and the windows are painted shut. At the restaurant by the swimming area, expect fried food and pasta. If that's what you like, go for it, but the oil gets reused again and again. At least the beer is cold. When they run out of wine, they don't restock. And if you're having an Aperol spritz, flat sparkling mix isn't a good pairing. Management spends a lot of time sitting around and smoking, and there are cigarette butts everywhere. The decking looks like it's been damaged for a while; check the photo. The shower at the bottom of the deck is slippery, so be careful. They could scrub off the slime each morning and reduce the chance of someone slipping and getting hurt. Do yourself a favor and find another hotel.
