City One Hotel & SPA

My room was clean and comfortable on the 4th floor, and I still think it’s a very good hotel. The big problem was communication: almost nobody at reception spoke English, and the one person who did was in room service, so they’d call her whenever we needed help. She was kind, spoke our language too, and once understood right away that I’d locked my key in the room and came to help open the door after I’d tried asking several people. I’m really grateful to her. It was hard getting understood otherwise.

The room itself was spacious and modern, and the lighting was nice. But it was unbearably hot from 6 a.m., with the air conditioning, TV, and refrigerator all out of order. They didn’t have a room card available, though they did find another way to handle that.

We spent the first night in room 705 unable to sleep because the broken AC left the room unbearably hot. I asked the lobby staff for help several times, but they kept saying it worked, even though it clearly didn’t. Eventually they brought a fan, which wasn’t enough. My wife and I were so uncomfortable that we were close to heat exhaustion. The next morning they moved us to room 201. It was a little better, but the air conditioning still didn’t cool properly. I asked for fair compensation for the night, since we hadn’t received the comfort or service we paid for. I was told the manager would arrive within an hour, then repeatedly told he wasn’t available or would come later. After hours of conflicting answers, I insisted and was taken to a back room to speak with a man who only repeated that compensation wasn’t possible. I’m not asking for anything unreasonable, just fair compensation for a night we couldn’t use as intended. The delay and poor communication have also cost us time and peace of mind on vacation. I arrived last night and had booked two nights. I’ve filed a complaint with the ministry of tourism, and they’re handling the case. I expect a proper response and hope this is resolved respectfully without further delay. I would not recommend this place.

0 STARS! Worst experience ever. We’d just come from the UK after a tiring flight. When I asked about a room, the receptionist said the price differed from the online rate and that breakfast and use of the amenities cost extra, though none of that was stated on any website. I asked if I could just book online since their price was nearly double. The rude staff then said they wouldn’t give me a room. No customer service, no clear or honest pricing. It felt like they were taking advantage because we weren’t Turkish and were tired. There are better hotels nearby.
