Novotel Kayseri

We really enjoyed the breakfast, with a great range of things to choose from, and the staff were friendly and responsive. The mattresses felt outdated, though, and despite the no-smoking signs in every room, people still smoked in theirs. The whole hallway smelled of cigarettes.

The location was convenient and breakfast was decent. That’s about all I can say in its favor. The soap hadn’t been refilled and ran out, while the toilet only flushed properly if I kept pressing the button. The AC cooling was disabled, a problem other reviews have mentioned, and the hotel clearly has no interest in fixing it. Since the weather wasn’t very cold that night, the heat made it hard to sleep.

It’s a useful hotel for a layover, given how close it is to Kayseri Airport. After my stay, though, the way management handled a billing problem was a big letdown. I contacted them through the Accor website and waited about a month for a reply. Mr Bahar insisted they weren’t responsible for the incorrect charge, though we felt otherwise. Miscommunication can happen, but they weren’t apologetic at all about the inconvenience. It’s surprising to see such an established hotel chain handle this so unprofessionally.

The food menu was good, and the hotel is close to the airport, but the room itself didn’t meet standards. The AC only worked in heating mode, perhaps because of the weather, but that shouldn’t have been the case. English wasn’t widely understood. I stayed just one night because I had a flight the next day. Otherwise, I’d never stay here again. It felt old and run-down, definitely not a four-star place.
