The food was the biggest problem. Everyone got sick on our first day. It seemed like they might be using leftovers from somewhere, frying everything in lots of oil. The black nuggets and rice mixed with spaghetti were awful, and people were angry and ill. We had to leave the next day and pay for another hotel, so we paid twice. I thought maybe we could manage if all we needed was a bed, but no, I promise you won’t be able to. Sleeping outside would be better. The rooms felt like basements: old, dark, smelly, dirty, and so small we couldn’t even open a suitcase. This hotel ruined our holiday plans and made us terribly sick. I don’t understand how it’s allowed to operate. Don’t trust the positive reviews, I’m sure they’re from the owner’s family and friends. They fooled me.

The breakfast was at another hotel about 700 meters away. The receptionist gave me a wristband and fastened it on. On arrival, he didn’t know or understand that I had a room booked in advance. He wasn’t very service minded, though he did help with my panniers. My room was dark, and the lights didn’t improve it much. The bathroom was tiny, so I skipped the shower because I worried the whole floor would get wet. There was an old TV, but I don’t usually watch television anyway. The outdoor stair handrail was broken, and I only noticed once I grabbed it. It didn’t feel safe. I bought a bottle of water from the receptionist for the night. It took a while to arrive, and when I got back to my room, I saw the seal was broken. I think he may have refilled a bottle from a large water dispenser.

It felt like a horror movie set. I can’t imagine anyone being able to stay here as a hotel guest.
