The best apartments in Karaëz.

We left the day after arriving, even though we lost money. The apartment didn't look like the photos, and it was the worst place we stayed in Turkey. The one thing going for it is the location, only five minutes from the beach. For the same price, you can find decent accommodation in Karayos. We were on the first floor, where it was damp and musty. We couldn't air the place out, and clothes barely dried outside because there was no sun. A dog nearby was surrounded by flies, and if we left the door open for a couple of minutes, flies got into the apartment. The dog relieved itself there, and nobody cleaned it up. The old air conditioner smelled bad when switched on and only cooled the living room, leaving the bedroom hot and stuffy. The furniture was old, and the fold-out chairs were wobbly and terrible to sleep on, with wooden supports. The kitchen was dirty, with old grease on the surfaces and cutlery that wouldn't wash off. The stove worked badly and was difficult to switch on and off. Even when turned off, the gas might still be running. Wi-Fi was available, but didn't work in the bedroom at all.

We spent more than ten days there with our family and were comfortable the whole time. For the price, it's a decent option, especially for a group with a car who want to explore the area and find beaches and convenient spots. Nearby are the Lycian Way, an old lighthouse, the pirate ruins of Olympos, and Finkik, where we bought food and drinks. We had a ground-floor apartment with outdoor dining. Pamir, our friendly host, speaks Turkish and some English, showed us around, and shared useful tips. Don't expect luxury hotel service, but the apartment has most of what you need: a hot shower, toilet, and kitchen. We did miss having large tea cups, a coffee pot, and a corkscrew.

The view from this 1+1 apartment is lovely, and the balcony is roomy. Just be prepared to give it a thorough clean when you move in.
