Ephesus Lodge

A lovely, green little Lodge in Kirazlı Köyü, and such a cool place to stay. The team were excellent and friendly, and ready to sort out any problems. The Chef made delicious food and drinks. It’s not luxury, but it’s quite comfortable and conveniently located near Ephesus and a couple of Vinery.

We had a great time as a family of four in a roomy, entirely adequate room. The large-screen TV and sofas made it feel like home, and the spacious bathroom was fine too. Kids’ options are limited, but they enjoyed the pool, swing, and board games. There’s a big garden to wander in, with large walnut trees providing welcome shade for cooling off. It was a lovely place to relax, and very quiet. We also enjoyed the restaurant’s varied menu and tasty drinks. The staff were friendly, attentive, and family-run. I’d definitely consider staying here again.

We arrived late and worn out, hoping to get a good night’s sleep, but the television in our room didn’t work. The attempts to fix it wasted time, and we ended up moved to a smaller, cheaper room downstairs without being offered anything to make up for the price difference. The replacement room got little sunlight and felt cold and damp. Its air conditioner didn’t work either. The fireplace had been advertised, but we were given only enough wood for the first use, and poor air circulation left the room smoky. The garden and pool looked neglected, covered in fallen leaves rather than cleaned daily as promised. We were there for two nights and three days, and the breakfast was very weak in both quality and local choices. A disappointing stay at this local hotel.

Breakfast in the courtyard was delicious, and I had a cute, funny kitty keeping me company. I was the only guest at the time, which made the lodge feel a bit empty and quiet for such a remote location, though the staff smiled often and were ready to help with whatever I wanted. The website photos were a little embellished, to be honest. In person, the rooms looked darker, more worn, and tired. Still, they were spacious and comfortable. I wish I’d come in winter and gotten to use the fireplace in my room! Google Maps showed the lodge one block before its actual location, and I ended up in someone’s private yard. The owners seemed to know exactly what had happened, so I don’t think I was the only one to make that mistake.
