Flora Garden Ephesus Hotel Kusadasiot

We booked bed and breakfast. Breakfast was good, but the weather wasn't suitable for using the pools. The hotel is a little outside town, though a bus stops right out front.

We were only there for one night, but it was a lovely place. Our large room was spotless and really comfortable. Breakfast and the rest of the food were great too. The restaurant is a little apart from the main building, but it's cosy, warm, and welcoming. The only snag was the coffee machines, incredibly slow and out of beans, and no one seemed willing to refill them.

The beach is the big draw if you're after sand: it's wide, with no pebbles or stones except for a few small ones here and there at the water's edge. The hotel complex is attractive, with an open, modern, roomy layout and a large restaurant. We stayed a week in the main building, near Kuşadası. Bus 34 stops just outside and gets you there easily. Food was delicious and varied, with Turkish dishes and international choices changing each day. Rooms were very clean, and housekeeping and maintenance were particularly good. Staff were generally friendly and helpful despite a noticeable language barrier. The animation team were passionate, and the evening shows were worth seeing, though they're mostly in Turkish. WiFi was strong throughout our room, public areas, and even the beach, with no interruptions. A couple of people at reception were less willing to help. When we arrived close to midnight with a room problem, we waited over an hour; the receptionist seemed annoyed and rolled their eyes instead of helping. Also, the lobby bar is supposedly open 24/7, but all-inclusive service ends at 23:00. A glass of wine at 23:20, for instance, costs 7 euros, which seems ridiculous. There's a lot of single-use plastic cutlery, plates, and cups everywhere except the main restaurant and lobby bar, where they have regular utensils. And there really are a lot of mosquitoes. I know they can't be fully controlled, but some measures could be taken.

What upset me was seeing how some other guests treated the staff. They spoke down to them every day, with expectations and an attitude that were awful to witness. The workers were always helpful and seemed to anticipate what guests needed, yet got very little appreciation. Most of those rude guests seemed to be French and German. That isn't the hotel's fault, but it made me sad to see. My partner and I had a great week here. The hotel is right by the beach, and our indoor pool was spotless. The spa staff were wonderful. Food and drinks were good, with varied, beautifully cooked meals throughout the day. Restaurant staff were fantastic, and our cleaners kept the room spotless and replenished the mini fridge daily. Kusadasi is about 15 minutes away by bus. The bus and taxi drivers we met were friendly and helpful. We had no complaints about the hotel or its staff, and would recommend it.
