Marbel Hotel by Palm Wings

The restaurant was a real highlight: the food was fresh, nicely prepared, and there was something for everyone. The room was spotless, nicely decorated, and had a balcony, though the beds were too firm for us. The woman who cleaned it was so friendly and happy to help. She made swans and love hearts on the bed every day, which we loved. Her service was excellent. Reception were also very helpful and welcoming. We arrived late, and complimentary food and drinks were waiting for us, which we really appreciated. The pool bar served drinks from morning until 11pm, but the bar staff were unfriendly. One person served us while on her phone and seemed annoyed we’d interrupted her call. She kept talking on it while serving us.

The pool got busy, so it could be hard to find a sunbed, but we had a fantastic time at the Marbel Hotel. Our room had a fridge, TV, air conditioning and WiFi, and it was cleaned well. The restaurant had lots of fresh food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Staff were friendly and always willing to help. I don’t agree with the negative comments. Special thanks to manager Mehmet and Emre, along with all the staff, for always making time for a chat.

The hotel’s response to my review is full of lies, which has made an already disappointing stay worse. There were exposed wires hanging out in the bathroom. Management claims we removed a telephone and cut the wires, but there was never a telephone in the toilet. They also say we caused the thick black mould in the shower. I have photos of it taken 12 hours after check-in, with the date stamp. Basic biology explains how bathroom mould grows. We stayed for seven nights. It’s advertised as a four-star hotel, but it was the worst four-star place we’ve stayed in. The lobby, bar and restaurant were dated and needed refurbishment, though the pool area was much more modern and very nice. Our small room, bathroom and balcony looked onto an unattractive apartment block. The furnishings were cheap, with some material peeling. The shower was tiny and grimy, the sliding glass door was coming off its frame, and wires were exposed in the bathroom. Each evening, the electricity in our room kept switching on and off every five minutes, affecting the lights and outlets. We chose all-inclusive. The food was okay but nothing special, and my husband and I had mild food poisoning one night after eating the same dinner dish. The reception team member on night shifts was pleasant, but I didn’t find the other staff friendly. They didn’t seem suited to hospitality, though that may have been a language barrier. I’d never come back and would rate this place two stars. Management should take responsibility instead of making things up.

The cats were lovely company, and the staff were pleasant and polite, though language could sometimes get in the way. There was a good range of food, but it was often cold. The pool felt exceptionally cold for the weather, the beds were uncomfortable, and noise carried easily between rooms. The shower was in very poor shape, and parts of the hotel were worn and a little unclean. I came for a birthday holiday, hoping to relax in the end-of-season heat. We mostly used the hotel as a base while exploring the beautiful town. Its facilities are limited and the location isn’t great. It served its purpose as somewhere to sleep and keep clean, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you only want to pay for a bed and breakfast or a room.
