Minay Hotel

Dinner changed each day and was really delicious, so you definitely won't go hungry. Breakfast stayed the same, but there were lots of dishes to choose from. Our room was new and clean, though the bathroom could use a little renovation and was still quite okay. They changed our sheets and towels twice. Friends told us theirs were changed every other day, so it seems to vary. The pool was cleaned daily. My only complaint is that the young men at reception don't speak English at all. The manager does, and he's usually somewhere around.

The beach is only 200 meters away, and there are markets nearby that stay open 24 hours. The hotel pool is cleaned every day. Breakfast and dinner both have several dishes, with unlimited coffee or tea, plus sweets and fruit. The rooms are cleaned about every three days, though you can ask for daily cleaning if you want. I don't think it's necessary. This year the owner Ufuk and his staff welcomed us warmly. His sons are also very good restaurateurs working at the hotel. I'm coming back for the third time because it really feels like home.

The location made getting around easy: the beach is a five minute walk away, shops are nearby, and there's a fast food place and pharmacy close by. The dolmus station is also nearby, so reaching the city centre is no problem. The pool and restaurant area are beautiful, the food was good, and the staff were great. For the price, it's a nice hotel. We weren't too happy with the room, though. The bathroom had nothing to keep water from spreading everywhere, with no bathtub or anything like that. We had a sea view terrace, but there was only one chair, so we couldn't really enjoy it. There were about three outlets: one for the refrigerator, one for the TV, leaving just the bathroom one to charge a phone if the others were occupied.

The location is excellent and an easy walk to the sea. The owners were warm and friendly, and I appreciated being allowed into my room around 8 a.m. The standard breakfast was okay, the room had a double bed and a single bed, and the balcony was a decent size. It was quiet at night, with no noise in the hallways. I also want to thank the staff for being kind and smiling. The beds made the stay miserable. The mattresses were so worn that the springs pressed through, they sank when I sat down, and they squeaked constantly. I couldn't sleep because of back pain. The old pillows felt like stones. I told the manager, who thought housekeeping might have forgotten to flip the mattresses and said he'd check, but nobody came. I tried flipping one myself and it made no difference. I'm a flight crew member who stays in hotels often, including budget places, and this was the worst bedding I've encountered. Affordable rates don't justify conditions like that. I asked for the room to be cleaned, but it never was. When I returned in the evening and asked for fresh towels, a friendly staff member brought them without any trouble. Still, used towels from a previous guest were in the closet when I arrived. The hairdryer didn't work either, so I had to ask reception for another one, which they eventually provided. Other balconies had a table and two chairs, while mine had nothing, so I had to stand there. I stayed three nights at Minay Hotel, Kusadasi, and wouldn't stay there again.
