Burgaz Izer Hotel

After a long drive from Europe, I spent two nights here. From a distance the hotel looks impressive, and its location works well for people travelling by car. It sits near a transit road, the town centre is about five minutes away by car, and there are two very large parking areas out front, though they aren't secured. At €33 a night for a room for two, the price seemed normal for this kind of place. I didn't try breakfast. The room did have teabags and a kettle. The main problems were the rooms and their upkeep. My first room was really run-down and its air conditioning was broken. After about five brief calls with reception, while they tried operating it remotely, they moved me to a second room in better condition. The AC there worked perfectly, but I had to call reception whenever I wanted it adjusted, which felt unusual. There was dust in corners that weren't used and along the window edges. The bathrooms were worn enough that cleaning alone wouldn't fix them, and the rooms need proper maintenance. Small defects had been patched up unprofessionally, making them look ugly and potentially unsafe. I'd suggest checking each room weekly and fixing problems properly and promptly. Reception was available when needed, and the staff were helpful, but they seemed inexperienced. There was no greeting or welcome, they went straight to business and kept conversations short. In my view, they could use hospitality training. Rooms facing the busy road get a lot of traffic noise, so bring earplugs or ask for a room at the back. I didn't notice noise from neighbouring rooms. My first and last visit here.

The beds were comfortable, and breakfast was fine. There was a fridge, though the basics in the room were limited to slippers, shampoo, shower gel, and one roll of toilet paper. Some rooms and bathrooms need repairs. We found a broken electrical outlet, and the windows were very difficult to open. The air conditioner couldn't be controlled and stayed on, blowing at 26 degrees. As of November, the pool and spa weren't operating. I don't know why.

The hotel and its basement facilities were gorgeous. Both pools were clean and really nice, and the gym was amazing. I only wish I'd discovered it sooner. My room was lovely, clean, and fully equipped, and the staff were super friendly. I was here for a wedding and stayed the following night. I'd come back in a heartbeat and recommend it to everyone. Maybe one of the best hotels I've stayed at.

A lovely place for a wedding, and they offer a nice spa. The location is great, and apart from the problems in our room, the hotel itself is good for a couple of days before getting back on the road. Customer service gets two stars from me. We had to call reception several times to ask for clean towels. The bathroom mirror and toilet paper dispenser in our room were broken. The rooms were clean, but need upgrades, including the water heating system. They use solar water heaters, which may be an old setup, because in our room the hot water only worked when it was sunny outside. Don't plan on showering at night, lol. Bring your own soap and ice. Ice isn't free, and the fridge didn't work. They did at least provide one bottle of water a day.
