ASTERIA BLOOM SIDE

I had a really nice stay. The hotel was clean, the food was good, and the staff were friendly. Sleep was the one problem: the hotel across the street played music nonstop from about 10pm until 3am every night, which made it really hard to get a good night's rest.

The reception and restaurant staff were great, very quick and polite. But please don't leave your bank cards in your room. We stayed from October 12th to 20th, and our card details were taken. The day after we left, someone tried to use them for an online purchase in Kazakhstan, even though we'd left a tip for cleaning.

The rooms were lovely and cleaned, and the pool was nice. They did fix the air-con after we asked, but we had to keep the balcony door shut. That's about where the good points ended for us. We spent two weeks there, and I wouldn't call it a five-star hotel. The food was awful and kept repeating, so I lived on chips. The fruit was bad and the desserts were mushy. The alcohol was vile, and the poolside snack bar was disgusting: the “pizza” was flatbread with cheese, and the burgers tasted off. The shop was really expensive too. Most staff couldn't speak English, so getting proper help was difficult. Some men were creepy and weird with me. The location feels like the middle of nowhere, though there are a few shops and a cafe nearby. Music was loud enough to hear in our room late into the night. I probably wouldn't recommend it, especially to fussy eaters.

Mehmet and Murat, the beach waiters, were a real highlight. They were energetic, very polite, professional, and clearly cared about their work. The rest of the staff were friendly too, though service across the resort would be outstanding if everyone showed the same commitment as those two. The food was very good, with lots to choose from each day, especially fresh fruit and desserts. Some dishes did repeat. Our room was clean and comfortable, and housekeeping kept it tidy, although for a five-star hotel it could be a little better. It had all the essentials. There aren't many activities aimed specifically at children, so the hotel seems more suited to adults, but families are welcome and can enjoy the pool or beach. I recommend Asteria Bloom Hotel for a relaxing, well-kept stay with good food and especially good beach service.
