Our room had the equipment and utensils we needed for self-catering, and it was easy to prepare meals. Room delivery was available when we tried the hotel food. The food itself was very basic and didn’t feel worth the price. The staff’s behavior was a bigger concern: while my partner was talking to the receptionist, he seemed completely disinterested and openly stared at young women walking by. It felt highly unprofessional and made us uncomfortable. A quiet night’s sleep was hard to get. The walls were incredibly thin, and we could clearly hear guests in the next room talking at normal volume. Noise at night, along with exceptionally hard, uncomfortable beds, made resting difficult. The school opposite didn’t bother us during the day. There were significant extra charges. Air conditioning was £60 for seven days and TV was another £10 for seven days. We expect some fees at a three-star property, but charging them in British Pounds instead of local currency felt like an unnecessary markup. It works as a basic self-catering base, but the extra costs, noise and staff attitude let it down.

The manager tried to strangle me, so I called the police. My son tried to get them to understand and listen, but they kept saying I was the problem. Maybe it was because I’m a woman who was enjoying herself with everyone there. I made plenty of friends at the hotel and got along with everyone. I never caused trouble and had no problems with anyone there apart from the staff trying to bully me. I have a lot of video recordings on my phone. They harassed me to write a review in front of them within the first few days of my stay. Don’t book this hotel, and I say that urgently. The police in Turkey will never help you. I was a single woman there with just my child, and I’d tell mums traveling with their children not to come here.

The entertainment staff were really good, especially Jon, with plenty of pool games for adults and children. The slides were great and ran from about 10 to 4. We had a two-bedroom apartment with a living area and kitchen between the rooms, an en suite with a spacious shower in the main bedroom, and a separate shower and toilet outside the second bedroom. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the beach. The rooms get very hot, so air conditioning is a must. They don’t advertise the cost clearly: it’s £14 a day for the two units, and they want payment for the whole holiday, so keep that in mind when booking. That would have been £140 for 10 days. We hired a fan for the living area at £4 a day and used the AC in the bedrooms. In the last week we got a fan from a shop for £10 a week instead. The pool gets very busy and they’re strict about reserving sunbeds. You can reserve from 7:30, but if you don’t get there early you could be stuck in the shaded area all day. Drinks like Coke and Sprite cost £4 each. We ate out, so I can’t comment on food prices. They only give you one key card, which is annoying, and there’s a £10 fee for a replacement if you lock yourself out or lose it. The hotel and area are busy and noisy throughout the night, with traffic and arguments or fights on most nights. Reading other reviews, that seems to happen a lot. It doesn’t sleep, so it’s not for anyone looking for peace and quiet. By day four we started using a nearby hotel we’d stayed at three years before, Palm Garden Keskin. It has a lovely pool and restaurant, good food, free WiFi and friendly staff, and feels very chilled. I’m not a fan of Alenz and won’t be back.

My first holiday and I was buzzing for it. Just be warned, don’t leave valuables in the room. On the fourth day, all my money was taken while I was out sightseeing. I complained and they checked the door card record, but that was all the staff did. It put a downer on the rest of the trip. Luckily, I had a bank card to get some backup money.

The pool was amazing for kids, with big slides and a baby pool with little slides. Staff kept watch and made sure everyone was safe. We always found sunbeds together as a family of four, and there’s a separate, quieter terrace that’s popular with people without kids. The entertainment ran pretty much all day, with activities for toddlers through adults. Evening shows were brilliant, with big productions every few nights and smaller events in between. Dr. Curly and his team kept things lively. There’s also a playground for little ones and an arcade/pool shack for older kids. Our two-bedroom apartment was clean and comfortable, with an en suite shower in the main bedroom and another bathroom and shower for the living room and kids’ room. It had a two-ring hob, extractor, fridge, microwave, kettle, cutlery and utensils, plus a nice balcony with a table and chairs. Housekeeping came daily to make the beds, freshen the room and leave clean towels. Check-in was easy, and reception staff were pleasant and helpful whenever we needed them. The restaurant on site served excellent food with good service at very reasonable hotel prices, with meals and drinks available throughout the day. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and shops within easy walking distance, and a taxi rank right outside. The harbour was only 5-10 minutes away by taxi, but being further out meant things cost significantly less. The area felt safe, with police cars passing now and then and no sense of trouble. We’d just got home from 10 nights and had a fabulous stay. There’s also a tattooist, hairdresser, shop and health spa on site, all paid services. They offer currency exchange too. The rates were a little below local banks, maybe 1 or 2 lira less per GBP than the official rate, so exchanging a couple hundred pounds would mean getting a couple hundred lira less, which won’t buy much. There are plenty of other exchange options within a 10-15 minute walk. I’d recommend the hotel, especially for families with children.
