We’d been to Club Amaris the year before, and this was our second visit with family. The ground-floor room we’d requested by email was ready when we arrived, which was handy since those rooms face the pool. The night manager welcomed us at 11:30 pm, carried our cases and showed us how to use the air conditioning. The rooms are basic: two single beds in a separate room, plus a sofa that converts to a double in the main kitchen area. There’s a small kitchen, hairdryer and shower. Air conditioning is only in the bedroom, and it blew straight onto one bed, leaving me cold some nights while the main room stayed hot. Closing the curtains before heading out helped keep the sun out and the room a little cooler. The cleaners were great and made the beds daily, though they mopped without sweeping first. Towels were changed every two days. For the first week, the pool was quiet and families got along well. Then a large group arrived and seemed to take over, with kids yelling in the pool all day. Our room faced that way, and for the final three nights we were kept awake by children running around and loud bar music, including after the group returned around 1 am. Last year the hotel had been quiet by midnight or earlier, with no late bar music, so maybe we were just lucky then. I know people are on holiday and want to enjoy themselves, but guests coming back after 1 am should remember that other people, including families with young children, may be sleeping. We asked if we could keep our room until 6 pm on checkout day instead of leaving at noon, but they couldn’t offer that this year. We thought we’d have to wait five hours in reception with our cases. Thankfully, the owner offered us a room downstairs, normally used by staff, for £20. It was just like our ground-floor room and had air conditioning, so we could rest, shower and nap after lunch and a walk around Marmaris before our 5 pm airport transfer. It was 38°C outside, so we really appreciated that. One day we were told off for eating crisps by the pool, which hadn’t happened the year before. We hadn’t noticed the no-food-or-drink signs, though new ones soon appeared, and a few other people were also spoken to. There are signs against diving too, but the large group using the pool that way weren’t told to stop, even after other guests raised it with staff. That felt unfair after we were reprimanded over snacks. We enjoyed the Friday night show from our balcony, with drinks we’d bought at a supermarket for 100 lira instead of 170 at the hotel. If it’s your first visit, be ready to get up early for a sunbed. I set an alarm for 6 am, and by about 7:15 most beds had towels on them. Air conditioning costs extra if you want it, as do the safes in reception, which has CCTV around the clock. There are also cameras around the pool and hotel. Water and milk are sold at reception if you need them on arrival. Blueport and the beach are about a 10-minute walk away, and Blueport has some restaurants on the top floor serving pizza, burgers, pasta and noodles, English food lol. Try to get an early flight if you can, since a late checkout depends on whether the next guests are arriving and they can’t always offer one.

The location near BluePort is handy, with plenty of restaurants nearby, and the beach is about a 10-minute walk away. But our first week was only OK, and things went downhill halfway through week two. A staff member I hadn’t seen before began aggressively stopping people from drinking by the pool, while letting troublemakers do it. Even bottles of water were a problem, though water is a basic necessity. Buying from the bar was allowed, but there’s a shop just 20 metres away where it costs 90% less. The rooms are basic, and although it’s self-catering there’s little to help you prepare food, so we ended up eating out every night. You’re asked for extra money for air conditioning as soon as you arrive. It’s expensive and, given the holiday price, should be included. I’ve been to 36 countries and never paid separately for it in Turkey before. Hassling was much worse this year, so I’m unlikely to return. It felt like Blackpool or another run-down seaside town with sunshine. A family who caused trouble arrived near the end. Thankfully, we only had two days left, but they were drunk within an hour and their kids bothered other people at the pool. The managers said they wouldn’t listen and didn’t act. Staff should take responsibility for the business instead of letting it become a free-for-all. Those last two or three days of our two-week stay left a lasting impression. I won’t come back or recommend it.

We stayed for 11 nights in July. The hotel was spotlessly clean, and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. We’ve booked again for next year and can’t wait 😀

We booked a family trip through EasyJet Holidays for my mother’s 50th birthday and chose Club Amaris in Dalaman based on its high ratings and the listing’s clear statement that Wi-Fi and air conditioning were included. What followed was one of the most upsetting and traumatic travel experiences we’ve had. After more than 12 hours of travel, the night receptionist, Hüsnü, ignored us and spoke rudely. Later, we saw him warmly welcoming other guests and helping with their luggage, while he questioned us abruptly and made discriminatory remarks about our nationality. He then said we had to pay for Wi-Fi and air conditioning, although the EasyJet Holidays site hadn’t mentioned extra charges. When we politely asked about it, he became verbally abusive and told us to leave if we didn’t want to pay. His threatening, aggressive manner was especially distressing when we were exhausted and travelling as a family that included women and someone with a serious medical condition. The next morning, we asked for toilet paper because our room had barely any. We were met with rudeness and a refusal. The same staff member then followed us to our room, banged violently on the door and shouted abuse. He invaded our personal space and made physical contact in an intimidating way. We felt genuinely afraid and unsafe. He continued harassing and intimidating us during the stay, muttering abusive words in Turkish whenever we passed him. It caused severe emotional distress and ruined what was meant to be a happy celebration. We trusted EasyJet Holidays and came away feeling completely betrayed. The experience has had lasting effects on our mental health. I’d strongly urge others to avoid this hotel. No family should be treated this way on holiday.

We’re on our last day and have had a wonderful stay. The hotel is spotless, and every staff member has been kind, helpful and willing to do anything. They work so hard, and the Owner should be proud of them. A big shout-out to Farit for making our stay perfect. We’ll be back. Christine & Sarah xx
