Abant Palace Hotel

There’s plenty to do around the hotel, so we never felt bored. You can rent bikes nearby, eat at cozy lakeside restaurants, or walk through the beautiful forest. At the hotel, our family enjoyed the spacious room and its stunning view of Abant lake, along with the pool, sauna, kids’ outdoor playground, and green area with comfortable swings. Breakfast and dinner both had lots of tasty choices. The staff were attentive and polite, and the hotel had taken all feasible safety measures related to the pandemic. There are other five-star hotels around the lake, but this was definitely the right choice for us. We had an amazing family stay and would recommend it to friends and other readers.

There’s no AC in the room, so keep in mind it can get really hot in the morning, especially during summer. Apart from that, this is an amazing place if you like quiet surroundings and want to take a break for a while.

The food was tasty, with plenty to choose from, and they served Turkish tea often. Our room was clean and cozy, and the surroundings were very child-friendly. We had a great stay as a family of four. Thanks!

There was renovation noise in my lake-view room, and it became unbearable. When I called reception at 14:45 on 24/01 to complain that the room was cramped and noisy, the male receptionist confirmed renovations were happening. He then sarcastically pointed out that my room was a standard 18m2 room, not a suite or king suite. I was stunned by how rude he was, especially to a returning guest. I told him his manner was unacceptable. Later I was moved to another standard room, which was larger, much nicer, and quiet. I hope management addresses this, since the staff have always been one of the hotel's strengths for their professionalism and politeness. I felt he was comfortable being rude without consequences. I brought guests for a two-night stay because I’d had such a memorable experience at Abant Palace three years ago and used to recommend it to friends and tourists. This visit left me extremely disappointed. Back then, the dinner buffet was amazing, with shrimp and other seafood. This time the food wasn't great, and the spread was mostly typical Turkish food. It seemed obvious they'd cut costs, though to be fair, there weren't many guests even during the winter school holiday. There was no snow, so there was barely anything to do. I wouldn't return or recommend the hotel now. Inflation may mean rates have to rise, but reception staff need to be well trained and polite, since they represent the hotel. With little food variety, perhaps because business was slow with no snow this year, and few activities organized by the hotel, I don't see much reason to choose it.
