Green Forest Holiday Village

The staff were a real strength, from reception being helpful to the cleaning team, who were always cheerful and efficient. Our floors were cleaned daily, with fresh towels and bedding each day. The place was very clean and welcoming, and parking was adequate. The snackbar served lovely food at reasonable prices, and the hairdresser was great for both men and women. Bar drinks cost about 10% more than in town, though charging them to the room was convenient. The hotel has a nice location and we had a pleasant stay. It feels like it may have been a high-end place about ten years ago, and some edges are looking tired. Breakfast was good, but the limited variety started to feel repetitive after a week. Some guests reserved pool loungers as early as 6am, and seeing very few people use the poolside WC put us off swimming much. We might return to the hotel, but the town down the hill felt tacky and was a major turn-off, like a British-focused resort in Spain. The hotel itself was lovely, and we had no complaints about the reception staff.

We were delighted with our stay. The rooms, food and pool were all good, and the staff were great. A special mention for Mr Chips (Cheap), who runs the shop. We’re definitely coming back next year.

The mountain setting made the location feel ideal for a relaxed break. We booked a week and had a great time, with helpful people at reception, in housekeeping, at the bar and entertainment, as well as the shop owner. Breakfast was decent. I enjoyed fruit, chips, beans on toast, tomatoes, cucumber and olives. It may sound like an odd mix, but it tasted good to me, and everyone has their own preferences. Thanks to all the staff. I’d recommend staying here for a chance to unwind.

Housekeeping did a good job: my room was clean, towels were changed daily, the air conditioning worked very well and the staff were friendly. The food, though, had a very limited choice for a resort at this level and wasn’t very good. The gift shop inside the hotel left a particularly bad impression. The shopkeeper first quoted £6.50 for two small items. When I tried to pay by card, he said cards weren’t accepted and asked me to come back the next day. Then he demanded £20 instead. It felt like a scam, and made it hard to trust a service operating inside the hotel. That experience spoiled my stay, and based on my visit I wouldn’t recommend Green Forest Hotel.
