The Tower Hotel

Cam and Ilhan made this stay feel personal. As a solo traveller while my family stayed elsewhere, I often sat with them in the evenings and chatted. They were welcoming and kind, and took a genuine interest in making me comfortable. They also stayed patient and professional with some rude, demanding guests. They’re a real credit to the hotel, and I’m grateful for their hospitality. My room was clean and cared for, though quite dated. I was first given a single bed at check-in, but they moved me to a more suitable room without any fuss. Breakfast was very basic, so I skipped it. I didn’t interact much with the daytime staff. I had a pleasant stay at The Tower Hotel in Ölüdeniz, Turkey, and appreciate Cam and Ilhan making it more comfortable.

There are lovely views from the pool, and breakfast had a good range for me. They made scrambled eggs fresh to order, alongside the buffet choices. The hotel’s own prices are high, but there are other places nearby if you’d rather eat or shop elsewhere. The area is fairly peaceful and it’s quick to get to the beach, supermarkets and restaurants. Our room was basic but reasonably clean. The staff were helpful too: they fixed a blown lightbulb as soon as we mentioned it, and found me some scissors to borrow.

The location and grounds are great, and the staff were very friendly. Our room was fine, though the rooms vary a lot, and the best ones overlooking the pool stayed empty the whole time we were there. Food was okay, but we didn’t have dinner at the hotel. Drinks are expensive, like elsewhere in Turkey right now, about £5 for a pint. The pool area is really slippery, which could be awkward if you have mobility problems. Little shoes are sold nearby, though, so that helps. The exchange rate was 5% better than at cash machines. Minibuses can take you to the lagoon if you call them. Go early, traffic gets bad later. A lovely little hotel and a lovely holiday. Thanks, Tower hotel xx

The room had several problems: the WiFi didn’t work, the shower barely flowed properly, and the air conditioner took ages to start working. Breakfast was included in our booking, but as vegans we only got bread and jam. The staff member who stopped us drinking the orange juice we’d brought along was especially rude. We were really thirsty, and he made a remark about whether we didn’t follow rules in our own country instead of speaking politely. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
