Tolay Hotel

There was mould on the bathroom ceiling, insects on the wash basin, and foliage growing across the balcony towards the door. The curtain was stained too. Four days before my holiday ended, I was told the fruit juice had run out when I asked for it at breakfast. The next day, I asked again and was told there were only five bedrooms occupied, as if that meant there weren’t enough guests. After a pause, they handed me a glass from the bar. I had to go through the same thing on the next two mornings as well. It was generally quiet, but the bar seemed to stay open until 2:15 am on the last Friday night of my holiday. From my ground-floor room I was woken at 1:15, then heard noise again at 1:55, 2:15, 3:23 and finally 4:55 am.

Tolga and his family run a nice bed and breakfast, and nothing seems too much trouble for them. The hotel is clean and the rooms are comfortable. Breakfast is a traditional Turkish spread, though you can also order an English fry-up cooked fresh for you. The pool is cold, but it’s filled from a natural spring, so that’s to be expected. You can walk to the main strip of bars, restaurants and shops, while staying far enough away that you don’t hear the noise. I’d definitely recommend it if you want to relax. Clean and comfy. ♥

We’ll definitely stay again. It’s a family-run hotel close to the main strip, with excellent food, good service and friendly, excellent staff. The room was clean, though small for two people, but you’re only there to sleep. Tolga, the manager, was very friendly, polite and helpful.

The WiFi was limited or kept cutting out, but it wasn’t a big problem for us. We were the first visitors of the season, so the place was almost empty, yet the staff made us feel at home. Our room was nice and well worth what we paid, and we enjoyed the classic Turkish breakfast. The location was convenient too, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the shopping center.
