Turay Hotel

The rooms badly need updating, and the sunbeds around the pool are taken over every morning by people putting towels on them. Staff don't say anything, so guests who haven't reserved a bed are left blocked out. I don't think that's acceptable after paying for a holiday at a supposedly great hotel. There aren't enough pool beds, and staff don't enforce the rules about reservations during the day either. The restaurant has no air conditioning, just open windows that let in flies, wasps, and the outdoor heat. There's also a constant scratching noise from the trees, maybe crickets or grasshoppers, going on 24/7, and it's really annoying. Fresh orange juice costs £1.80, and bottled water is only available for a price. Breakfast seems aimed more at Turkish guests than tourists from the U.K or other European countries. I had to ask for an omelette every morning. The staff all seemed bad tempered, as if someone had stolen their scone, even though you'd think they would want guests to return. Stray cats were allowed to bother people for scraps during dinner. That's very odd and I don't understand why they let it happen. You wouldn't get that in the U.K. Don't waste your money or time here. It's a joke. Avoid it!

The location is superb, but the rooms need updating. Poolside beds were all claimed by towel reservers by 8 am, and there aren't enough of them. Staff also didn't do much to enforce the rules about saving beds during the day. We booked half board for 10 nights, but only had E Meal on 4 nights. The half-board menu was very poor. Breakfast was disappointing unless you like hard-boiled eggs or omelettes, with no fruit and few other choices. Fresh orange juice cost £1.80, or boxed juice was £1.40. Dinner had few good options. When I asked about the soup of the day, the answer was lentil every time. The menu listed about eight main courses, but only four were actually available. Reception was understaffed and the staff weren't friendly, except for the cleaners.

We felt safe and very well looked after at the Turay, and we're already looking forward to coming back next year. The location, food, and staff were all fantastic. Thomas took great care of us at meals, while Ozzy (Omer) made us laugh and kept the cocktails and good times flowing every day. They're both true gentlemen. Thanks for everything. The Turay's riverside restaurant is in an idyllic spot, peaceful and comfortable, with plenty of nature around. There was nothing to dislike about the location, food, or service. The food is tasty and excellent value. It isn't the cheapest, but the quality and service make it worthwhile. Thomas, the head waiter, is a lovely guy and always happy to help. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
