Exedra Cappadocia

Breakfast was awful, so we ate out every morning. The staff didn’t greet us, and the food included Brussels sprouts, onion rings, fries and other random things. Luckily there was an espresso shop next door for decent coffee. We were also unhappy with room service: they cleaned the room and took our towels, then said they had run out when we asked for replacements. The dirty, empty bowls and glasses from our wine and yoghurt were still there three days later. The spa itself was nice, but the two women who massaged us seemed sick and kept sniffing, coughing and spluttering. When we went to the gym, staff were smoking inside, so we left. We expected much better, especially for what we paid; the experience dampened our trip. The hotel feels closer to two stars than four. Check-in was fine and the staff were okay, but we had to ask for a tour and they seemed annoyed about showing us around. We had rooms 603, 604 and 605. Room 604 had awful mould and slime on the wall, black mould in the bathroom and a strong smell, so we asked to move. They weren’t happy, but the room felt unsafe.

Exedra in Cappadoce is a beautiful, splendid hotel, but my husband and I were given room 108 downstairs, which felt like a cave. The air smelled damp as soon as we entered, and the bathroom and toilet area was unbearable. We could see mould in the ceiling corners and had to keep the door partly open while in the room. The woman in neighboring room 107 also had to sit outside on the terrace to get fresh air. Please, hotel manager, don't rent out rooms like these to people visiting your beautiful country, Turkey. We went home with very bad memories and couldn't enjoy the trip, since even thinking about returning to sleep there at night made us feel awful. We couldn't understand why Exedra Cappadoce left the good rooms empty while renting the damp ones. On April 11, 2026, tourism wasn't yet at its peak and the hotel wasn't fully booked.

We had a lovely visit to the Exedra Hotel spa with the whole family getting deep tissue massages. Gizem went out of her way to collect us from the lobby and make sure we could enjoy the hotel jacuzzi and sauna too. I highly recommend a massage here!

I'm sorry to say I left disappointed and hurt. We felt discriminated against by the staff, perhaps because of how we look. We're an Asian family, Filipino and Indian, and even though we paid well and tipped, they refused our request for a fireplace twice, giving a different reason each time. The fireplace was already in the room, so they only needed to light it. We noticed other things too. Please don't discriminate against anyone, black, white or brown. We could afford to stay here, and leaving with a broken heart was painful.
