Atalay Apart Otel

I’ve stayed here with my family in Ortakent, Bodrum, and have been recommending this boutique family-run hotel to friends and relatives for years. Its location, amenities, and proximity to things make it a dependable choice. It’s ideal for families with children unless having a pool is essential, because there isn’t one. The rooms have enough space and facilities for 4-5 adults.

The only thing that still feels the same is the friendly attention from the owners of Hortma Cafe on the beach. We used to love Atalay Houses: my children stayed there for six years when they were young, and plenty of our friends and relatives went too. My sons practically grew up there. Back then Mr. Önder was attentive and kind. I used to leave my things with him at the end of each year and collect them the next summer. But when we came back last week for a week with friends, that old warmth and attentiveness from Mr. Önder was gone. We made a big mistake bringing our dog without checking first. They understandably wouldn’t accept him, and we were left unsure what to do. He used to be outside with us until bedtime, but at night he slept in the car in the parking lot. During the day, while walking our tiny 3 kg dog in the complex garden, a worker told us not to walk him there because the owner gets angry. We were shocked and agreed, but then felt afraid even to put him down as we passed through. There were other problems too. On the first day, the water heater tripped the fuse. We reported it, but it wasn’t replaced until two days later, after we reminded them. The first day, a plastic chair leg broke; they took it away and put a paving stone there instead. We used it like that for three days, then mentioned it again and they replaced it. The bathroom foot towel was very wet, but when I asked to change it, they told me I couldn’t and should put it in the washing machine. They didn’t provide sheets for five people, and gave us just three towels. When I asked, they said they’d already given them. Thankfully I’d brought some myself, but I was really upset. I can’t take them with me. Maybe these things upset me so much because we used to love and feel so at home in this place. It’s changed a lot over the years.

The children can have a really pleasant time here, and you can bring them without worry. The owners’ own children grew up at the business, so they can help with that too. It’s a very sweet, comfortable, clean family-run place, and the food is delicious, especially at the cafe. As someone who loves coffee, I won’t forget the coffees Ms. Memnune and Mr. Onder made for me (: Thank you, Atalay Family 🥰🥰🥰

We could take it easy with coffee while the kids played in the area beside the hotel cafe, which was really convenient. The sea is crystal clear, and there are lots of shops and places to eat nearby. The houses are wonderfully clean and have everything you need. Set right on the beach in one of Bodrum’s prettiest spots, it’s a real family hotel. The owner, Mr. Önder, and his wife are genuinely friendly and take care of everything. It’s definitely on my list of places to visit again and again.
