Kemal at the front desk made a big difference for our group. He speaks fluent English, was kind and calm even when all 40 of us showed up at once, and went out of his way to sort out our problems quickly. He also kept checking that we were happy. Ask for him, and tell him Donna and David sent you. We’d come back because of Kemal. Most other staff spoke very little English, including his supervisor, and without his help I’d have rated service 3 out of 5. We came from Canada for a tour of Turkey’s sacred sites, then spent five days at the retreat with about 350 people from around the world. The resort handled the crowds easily, with loads of food choices. The buffet reminded me of our cruises, especially the amazing desserts, though the turkey and chicken were often overcooked and Istanbul’s food is better. It’s easy to overeat when there’s so much to choose from. The beach is lovely to walk along, and the Aegean is clear and clean. The setting is beautiful, with stunning sunrises and sunsets. The Turkish spa is excellent, and the gym is decent for a hotel. There are several good specialty restaurants, including sushi, Chinese, Italian and fish, but book at least a week ahead. Reservations are free if you stay a week. I’m fussy about pillows, so I’d bring my own. And be kind to people. Learning a few Turkish words helps. For Americans who wear Canadian flags or labels while travelling, remember you represent our Canada. We’re mostly kind, considerate, patient and loving, so act that way.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, always ready to do whatever they could for you. There was good entertainment through the day and into the evening, and the food was good too. The pool area was enjoyable, with sunbeds easy to find whenever we wanted one. The hotel was very clean and had plenty of bars and restaurants. We’d definitely recommend it.

Ameera looked after us at breakfast and lunch every day during our five days at Sunis. Her food and beverage service was excellent, and she was so helpful and lovely. Thanks, Ameera! I hope I’ve remembered your name correctly. I’ve attached a photo just in case. Greetings from Malaysia!

The hotel has a lovely pool and spa, including a sauna, hamam and steam room. Sea view rooms have nice vistas, the buffet food can be quite good, some staff are nice, and the Irish bar is really cool, though I believe it closes in summer. The animation team was nice too, and their activities improved during the last couple of days, but we’d felt bored before then. Some areas look dated, and our family room was much smaller than it seemed in the photos, though that was one of our lesser concerns. The main issue was how the place was advertised in the UK. It has the potential for a five out of five, but it doesn’t currently feel like a Platinum or Luxe collection hotel, and definitely isn’t Ultra All Inclusive. We travelled in the last week of May. Jet2 said basically everything would be open from May 15, but we didn’t see improvements until our last day, June 2. The buffet’s good food and waiter service were mostly limited to its first hour. Arriving later meant disappointment, and some specialty dishes ran out quickly, perhaps before half the guests had a chance. The hotel seemed seriously short staffed, including at the bars. We had the à la carte option twice but once was enough. The food wasn’t really the issue. The rooms felt like half empty canteens, with no music or cozy atmosphere, and the trolley they serve the food from was a real mood killer. You’ll know what I mean if you go. The branded drinks were another letdown. Some mentioned in reviews were only available at certain bars and for a short time. There was just one bottle of Chivas whisky in the whole hotel, and Jägermeister was a little easier to find but still not always available. You have to insist on the specific drink, or staff may pour the local version, which is usually miles away from it. Kids over six may get bored. Apart from the slides, there wasn’t much for them: a games room that costs extra, two pool tables, and no children’s activities with a dedicated team that I saw. I’ve been to Ultra hotels with free games rooms. The outdoor play area is just for toddlers. The hotel is very isolated, so getting to a bigger city like Kusadasi costs at least 80 euros. If you get bored, finding something to do elsewhere could get expensive. Given the way this hotel was sold, we expected much more. I’d have paid a bit extra for another option that was in a completely different league. Ozan, Baris and Mahir, greetings from Jonas!

The facilities are amazing, and the hotel is very good for cleanliness, food and service. But the à la carte restaurant was awful. I cracked a tooth on mussels that weren’t clean in my Mexican meal. They poured the beer from a can, just like the one in my minibar. My glass was broken, the iced tea was warm, and it took four requests to get Fanta for one of my sons. Chief waiter ERCAN was impolite and unfriendly. Guest Relation Manager Banu Kose had the same arrogant attitude. When I asked her about something important to me, she was already angry, gave a sharp answer and made remarks to my wife for taking more pieces of lokumi and figs for our kids, who were already sunbathing. I don’t understand how the senior management hires people like this to run and serve at such a nice place.
