The family still runs this mansion, and if I remember correctly, it has never changed hands. They’re kind and attentive, and we enjoyed our stay so much that we’d love to return. It’s one of the best-preserved historic mansions in the region. They’ve made it as comfortable as they can, but it’s still an old mansion: it can be restored, not changed. Don’t expect five-star hotel comfort and then complain that it was awful. If that’s what you want, there are new concrete and marble piles available.

I didn’t stay overnight, but we went to the guesthouse’s Marmelat Cafe, four adults and three children. Tea, fruit juice, and soda came to 130 TL. In short, I felt ripped off. Seriously?!

The food was delicious, and the staff were attentive and friendly. It’s one of the best-preserved buildings in Safranbolu, with decor and an interior atmosphere that make it feel like a trip back in time.
