Pacacioglu Bag Evi

We had a fabulous breakfast, and the hospitality was top notch. The rooms are spacious, clean, and renovated, with a splendid interior. A great boutique hotel, strongly recommended.

Gular is a lovely woman and gave us excellent service. We had cheese toast for dinner. The room was nice and beautiful, the garden was clean, and the price was reasonable.

Even though the prices are above average, I left feeling relaxed and satisfied, and sad to go, already wanting to return. Paçacıoğlu Bağ Evi has become a peaceful escape for us year after year. It’s not far from the city center, hygiene is reassuring, breakfast is healthy and plentiful, and the staff are attentive. The mansion, near Mencilis Cave in the Bağlar area, has kept its history and now operates as an 8-room boutique hotel. In summer it stays cool inside, and the garden is full of trees, flowers, and fruit. You can hear birds and catch the scent of blossoms. Many old mansions are neglected, but this one’s architecture is carefully preserved and looks almost new. The wood throughout, from floor to ceiling, is high quality, and the rooms smell pleasantly of it. The rooms are spotless, spacious, and airy thanks to the high ceilings. I loved sitting by the window with a book and coffee in the cool air. The breakfasts were delicious, and the whole stay was quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. Half-board only covered breakfast, so we booked dinner outside. Since this was during the pandemic, takeout was the option. Kilcioğlu is a good choice, though only the pita menu was available. I wouldn’t recommend Hacı Erol, as they sent our mixed grill burnt. Ms. Güler, the manager, is a genuine, wonderful woman who takes care of everything. We loved her.

Ms. Güler was so friendly and warm, and all the hosts helped us feel at home during our two-night weekend stay. It’s a lovely guesthouse for enjoying the city’s history and peaceful atmosphere. I’d seen some reviews to the contrary, but our room was quite warm even in November. We were sad to leave. It felt like our home in Safranbolu, and we’ll find another chance to return.
