Neba Royal Hotel

For a budget stay, this hotel is a good choice. The price is attractive, the location is pleasant, and you can walk to the center and the seaside promenade. It's a modest place with around 40 rooms, but they're spacious, as are the bathrooms. It's clean, the staff are friendly, and parking is included. If budget isn't an issue, I'd opt for Sheraton or enemon hotel instead.

After just one night I left, even though I'd planned to stay four. The location is the one good thing about this place. My bed smelled strongly of cigarettes, the carpet and chairs were filthy, and parts of the carpet were burned and torn. The pillows seemed like the cheapest quality available. The bathroom and toilet were dirty, and the taps were broken. This felt like a motel, not a 4-star hotel.

The breakfast was included and was okay, and the beds and bathroom were okay too. The rest was frustrating. The carpet was dirty, and the internet was extremely slow, kept dropping, and made me log in again each time. The central AC caused trouble: if one room on the floor switched to heating, all the rooms on that floor got unbearably hot 🥵. They said parking was free, but it was just street parking, which was hard to find. You also had to leave your key with reception. I won't stay here on my next trip to Samsun.

The location is very good and the hotel is nicely furnished, but the little problems add up and make the stay uncomfortable. It really needs better management. The soundproofing is terrible: you can hear everything said in the next room, and even have conversations across rooms through the bathrooms. The materials don't feel like 4-star quality, including the toilet paper, towels, and shampoo. Cleanliness gets 2 out of 5 from me. The bathroom tap and shower were dirty, there was a big grassy spot on the room mirror, and the room generally didn't feel clean. There were other missing or poor items too: no minibar in my room, a dirty towel with a bunch of hair on it, and no slippers. I could list more, but that's enough.
