Selimiye Thales Otel

The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially Ms. Aleyna and Mr. Berat. It’s a clean, well-kept place with a spacious garden, two pools, and its own parking, so it works well for families with young kids. It’s close to the beach, but there’s no private beach. Even if there were, access would be limited to beaches with a spending requirement, so that wasn’t a big drawback for us. Breakfast could be better.

Breakfast was neither especially good nor especially bad. The young man serving it was polite, and I’d like to thank him. But this was more a test of patience than a holiday, and I wouldn’t call the hotel’s service beachfront quality. Keep a close eye on the bill, too: the fruit juice we were given because “the tea wasn’t brewed yet” was charged along with the Turkish coffee and menemen. We asked for it to be taken off, but the total stayed at 850 TL. We stayed at the Thales Hotel for 4 nights after booking through Jolly Tur, and regretted it. The “beachfront” description felt very creative, and calling the place “zero” from the sea was inspired marketing. Google Maps is more honest about the location. The website also says there’s a private beach, which is misleading. I think they mean the paid beaches belonging to other hotels nearby. Room cleaning was a mess. During our 4 nights, we were the only ones to visit the room: nobody cleaned it, changed the sheets or replaced the towels. When the toilet paper ran out, that was that. The rubbish stayed there too, maybe as a souvenir. And the beds! The springs practically give you a back massage, so there’s no need for a spa. When we complained, we were told they’d look into it, then nothing happened. We called the next day and they just flipped the mattress. Apparently all the beds were the same and nobody had complained before, what a coincidence. At check-in, staff asked strange things like, “Did you pay Jolly Tur?” They seemed surprised that guests had booked through Jolly. We also found it odd that we were told to check the bill so carefully. If this is your idea of a beachfront (!) holiday, good luck.

The garden was spacious, the pool was large, and everything looked carefully put together, almost like Pinterest. It was our first visit, and we enjoyed all 4 nights. The place was very clean, the staff were attentive, and breakfast was fantastic.

A great place to relax, with a spacious garden and friendly, attentive staff. Breakfast had plenty of choices and was delicious. It’s at the entrance to Selimiye, within walking distance of the beaches.
