Agva Inn

The gardens and scenery are beautiful, and Ağva and its beach are gorgeous too. The pool is lovely, and the garden is huge. There used to be an open buffet for dinner, but now you order from the menu. The food is generally good and there's plenty of it. The swings in the garden are old and scarce, and the rooms need more attention and some updating. Even with the room quality, I’d go back for the nature and views.

Nazil was a great host and made us feel welcome 😊, but the hotel's dog barked until 3:30 in the morning, and the bees were a nightmare. The rooms need refurbishing too. There was no fridge, kettle, or refreshments, and our room wasn't cleaned in the morning. I was very disappointed. They charged me 100 TL for coffee with breakfast, which was unbelievable and a total disgrace. I won't be coming back.

The owner was friendly and tried to accommodate our vegetarian dinner request, and thankfully we found some buffet dishes we could eat. The staff were friendly too, and the creekside deck gets nice winter sun on clear days. The setting is usually quiet, but noise carries through the walls at night. We could hear people talking in the hallway, doors opening and closing, footsteps, and music from nearby hotels. There wasn't any entertainment. The grounds are larger than those at some other boutique places, and the property has 39 rooms. It's 12 years old and sits between the road and the creek. The price still left us feeling cheated, though. We made a last-minute booking and paid because we expected better value, but the half-board charges felt extremely unfair. It was 750 TL for two adults and another 450 TL for our 12-year-old in the same room. I've never seen another hotel charge more for a child than for adults, and it felt as if they didn't want families with children to travel there. Our family room was small and had no balcony. It had a queen bed, clean linens, good cupboard space, a safe, a wall-mounted TV, a small desk, disposable slippers, and a small daybed in the corner as an extra bed. There was no electric kettle. The bathroom was a decent size, with old fixtures, clean towels, toilet paper, soap, and shampoo. The pool was unused in winter and full of algae. The lawns were huge but not manicured, with plenty of chairs and benches and a volleyball net. The dining hall was better maintained. Dinner buffet options included several Turkish cold salads, fish, sausages, and fruit for dessert. We skipped the soup because we couldn't tell whether it was vegetarian, and there was no English-speaking person available to help at the time. Breakfast was very disappointing: olives, marmalades, and a couple of green salads, but no butter for the bread, no omelette, and only boiled eggs. There was only Turkish tea, no English breakfast tea for non-Turkish guests, and no juice or milk for the children. In my earlier report, I said the hotel charged more for a child than for adults. They replied that there had been an accounting error and promised to refund the extra child charge. I provided everything they asked for, but after more than a month, I still hadn't received the refund ☹

The hotel and service were nice, and breakfast was good. We enjoyed the river view while eating.
