Puerta Villa

The red villa looked appealing from the photos and sits in a nice spot, but the inside was so damp and poorly maintained that we felt uncomfortable and unhygienic there. We stayed one night with friends and ended up sleeping badly. There was no soap by the sink, and although the owner had left wood for heating, we struggled to get it lit. The upstairs floors didn’t heat either. We left early in the morning. If it hadn’t been so cold outside, we wouldn’t have gone in at all. The villa is rented through the owner and on Airbnb, but it needs a major renovation before it should be rented again. I wouldn’t recommend staying there as it is.

We were badly misled by the pictures. This is no villa, it’s a shack that you can apparently only get to by motorbike. We’ve travelled hundreds of thousands of kilometres, and landing here at the start of our holiday was a disgrace. Once the managers of Kapim Hotel Agva saw we couldn’t reach the place, they offered us another shack they called a “bungalow,” then an abandoned apartment, and finally a hotel room with no hygiene at all. When it was clear we had nowhere else to stay, they said there would be absolutely no refund because they’d offered alternatives. We were left stranded. Don’t let the photos fool you or ruin your trip. We absolutely can’t recommend it. Look at reviews of these establishments on other websites and you’ll understand what we mean.

If you want to get away from the city and other people, the setting is nice, and the hot water worked fine. But the drive there goes through fields, with bushes scratching the car sides and the underside scraping the road. Inside, it wasn’t clean or well cared for. The tap water smelled rusty and looked very dirty. I filled a bottle, and just two hours later the water had turned bright yellow. I’d never recommend this place.

The garden furniture and swing looked like they’d been left at an abandoned house, and the upstairs balcony chairs were falling apart. Inside was just as neglected: the outlets, cupboard surfaces and interiors, furniture, and especially the windows were so filthy that we didn’t want to touch them. The photos show what I mean. We expected to use a jacuzzi, but its water was rusty and muddy, as if the storage area hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The tap hot water looked the same. There was no coffee maker or toaster, just a stove and tea maker, and the kitchen had only three forks, two water glasses, and barely enough plates. The pots and pans were scratched and greasy, and we even found a teacup full of ash in a drawer. We tried not to let it spoil our holiday, but we’ve never seen a place this dirty and neglected. I’ll complain to every relevant authority. It’s a real shame to see such a pretty bungalow and garden ruined like this.
