Yıldız Country Hotel

We wanted somewhere quiet to rest while in Sinop, and found this hotel online. It's a little outside town in a very peaceful area, and our room was clean and ready for us. Breakfast was very complete, too. Everything was perfect, and we're glad we stayed. I've since read several negative reviews, which I think are completely unjustified.

The service and staff were extremely disappointing. Don't waste your money here, you might as well sleep outdoors. The bungalow arrangement is a terrible idea. Some units share the same wooden structure and are separated by only one wooden wall, so you can hear the people next door clearly, even when they fart. You hear every step if someone walks at midnight. This wasn't explained on their website. There was no security either, anyone could enter without being asked anything. The breakfast area was like an animal feeding area, with no cleanliness, hygiene, or organization. The food wasn't fresh, even though this is a city known for fresh vegetables. The hot water didn't work. They added something but it still never worked, so I couldn't have a hot shower. When I asked them to fix it, they told me I didn't know how to use it, then started explaining it to me. The closet was broken. Staff said they'd asked a technician to come, but nobody showed up for four days. Even after we asked, they never changed the towels. They gave us just one towel for two people over four days. The staff weren't helpful and didn't really seem like people you could ask for help. The tourism agency tries to make the place look good and says they can help, but nobody can. We paid 500 TRY, around £42, and it wasn't worth it. It's very expensive for what you get, and you can find a nice hotel instead. Never book this place, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We were left stranded after an eight-hour drive with two other families and children. Our room had been booked two weeks earlier, and we had called ahead, but when we arrived at 2 AM there was nobody at reception. In this remote mountain spot, we searched the whole area and found no one. We called the only phone we could find about 50 times without getting an answer. The only person we came across was a guest staying in a house, who warned us, “If you have any sense, don't stay here…” We had to find another hotel. That's their idea of customer satisfaction, and it says a lot about how much they care about their livelihood. Don't go, and don't recommend it.
